Have you wondered why we're getting all this publicity about e-voting and the potential for fraud? |
|
Me too. By and large the coverage has been constrained to the susceptibility of e-voting to breakdowns and hacking. Little to no mention has been made in all this great coverage to the 2004 STOLEN election or to the fact that vote flipping has already been reported in early voting during this election cycle. One might argue that the MSM aren't ready to take that step to raising the specter of intentional theft of our elections. I wonder...
Karl Rove announced in May an organized intent to contest close elections that Republicans lose by claiming election fraud on the part of Democrats! We at DU laughed. Now, the stage is set with MSM exposure of the susceptibility of e-voting systems to hacking and breakdowns, Rove & Co are positioned to contest close elections.
Perhaps I'm overly jaded from years of being subjected to the MSM's Wall of Silence surrounding any stories having to do with election fraud. I see the recent press exposure as nothing but groundwork preparing the electorate for Rove's election fraud play after the elections.
Don't be surprised or dismayed should this all come to pass as I have suggested.

I've been thinking this for a week or so now.
Too much coverage in just the past few weeks, when there has been none for the past six years. It all smacks of another Rove operation.
We'll see, I suppose.

3. Yep, it's a possibility. And unlike the Democrats, the Republicans |
|
will be in it for the long haul. Who cares how long it takes, how many court actions have to be filed, etc. Instead of accepting a loss with honor like the Democrats have so many times in the past, (whether they really lost or not), the GOP will dig their heels in and throw a tantrum.
No walking away and congratulating the winner on this one, folks. Another big difference between Democrats and Repugs.

4. I take your point, but I don't think it's probable. |
|
There has been a lot of discussion about election fraud, yes - a lot of it due to R. Kennedy Jr. and others who have spoken out of late. It became an issue the MSM could no longer ignore covering to some extent.
If the GOP cries "fraud", it will mean investigations into Deibold machines and others, their impact on previous elections, their ownership and ties to the Republican powers-that-be.
I don't think they want to go there.

5. Seems highly likely but if so it will be a good thing... |
|
If the RNC decides to make cleaning up the election machinery an important issue then maybe it can be cleaned up. Till now they have been the captains of the dirty election industry blocking all attempts to fix things.
we shall see....

9. Balance of Power in Senate |

I could see this delayed for a while with maryland and maybe Virginia in doubt. This would take the press away from control of the house. Since Maryland is evote no paper they may just take it anyway. Any accusation of fraud by Rove will be to control the language and insert oxymorons in the discussion. I hear glitch and paper trail as prominate wording. all diversions away from the vote count. Emphasis on the machine not the manipulator.
Whatever takes place will insure no major changes before 2008. Paper for everyone does nothing about the vote count. The seeds planted in 2000 and 2002 and 2004 are voices being heard. Our challenge will be to control words.
