Shouldn't there be protests?
The issue of election fraud extends far beyond John Kerry, it extends to the very core of American values. This issue is about protecting our democracy. I wish some activist groups will organize protests and rallies where people can speak to the subject of election fraud. I think this needs to happen sooner, rather than later. We must cast a cloud over Bush's so-called victory, and the best time to do that is before all the results are fully ratified.

3. protest with this:
$$$$$

$$$$$ is what bought two fraudulent elections for Bush. Fight fire with fire. Donate to the recounts. That is probably the most useful form of protest we can participate in right now.

bother to protest anymore... hell, half the country OBVIOUSLY doesn't even have any clue what goes on or we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place... <sigh>

5. St. Paul tomorrow
No Stolen Election News Conference & Rally

(focusing on the Ohio experience and what it says about the state of democracy today)

Minnesota State Capitol: center steps/south of Aurora Street

Saturday November 13, 2004 - 1PM

Express your solidarity with the growing voices from Ohio calling for a fair
accounting of the election in that state! Join the call to count every vote and to
investigate the mounting reports of vote suppression and manipulation in Ohio.

Background

Several factors taken together strongly suggest that the 2004 Presidential Election
may have been stolen from John Kerry and incorrectly reported as being won by George
Bush. These factors impacted many swing states (Florida, New Mexico, Nevada, etc.)
but at this news conference and rally the focus will be on Ohio since that state
(and its pivotal 20 electoral votes) is the basis for the claim that George Bush won
the election.

What Will Happen

The news conference portion of the event will publicly identify factors that have
come to light so far in Ohio that suggest that the wrong person may be "elected" at
the Electoral College when it meets on December 13, 2004 to select the next
president of the United States.

The rally part of the event will let us show how we feel about all that! Rally
speakers will address the issues from the perspective of their various affected
communities.

In addition, the news conference/rally will identify actions which must be taken to
address the question of legitimacy that clouds the presidential election of 2004 and
future elections.

Related Current Events

The news conference/rally is scheduled concurrent with public hearings being held
Saturday, November 13 in Columbus, Ohio on election irregularities and voter
suppression in Ohio. The news conference/rally is also consistent with and
supportive of the recent request by Representatives John Conyers (Michigan), Robert
Wexler (Florida), and others for an investigation by the U.S. General Accountability
Office into the efficacy of voting machines and new technologies used in the 2004
election.

6. Soon, soon.
There have been protests here and there since the election, but I do understand what you're saying. We should be in the streets, demanding that this obvious fraud be exposed.

Democrats are feeling largely dejected right now, and many of them have swung back like a pendulum - the momentum and excitement that propelled them to work so hard for Kerry has swung back to push them into a profound depression.

Many people have resigned to the mindset, "Well, I tried my hardest, but the bad guys still won. I can't dedicate my life to the losing team, so I quit."

Once we, as a party, start facing the actuality of fraud in this election, and once we start acknowledging the real possibility that Bush will use the next four years to do even more to transform America into a fascist Christian state, you'll get your protests. And if our party doesn't face up to that reality, we need to reconsider our loyalties.

I have a feeling that America will not remain as pliant as Bush might want it to be over the next four years.

7. Agreed
The election results haven't even been certified yet -- and what about all the military ballots? Once the recounts (which hopefully will happen) are over, if * is still "president," watch for Inauguration Day. D.C. stores will run out of eggs....

11. Look at the numbers
Whether or not you accept the outcome of last week’s election, there can be no doubt that millions of Americans voted for George Bush and other republican candidates. While the voters residing in the upper one- percent tax bracket had something to gain, the great majority voted against their own self-interest. Why? Election fraud and voter suppression theories do nothing to address the number of legitimate votes cast for candidates that did not truly represent the interests of the people.
I agree wholeheartedly that our electoral system is in dire need of reform. Americans should demand a uniform system, safe from partisan influence, in which every vote cast is counted, and in which there can be no doubt in the accuracy of the outcome. Until that system is in place, we need to work within the current framework to produce an incontrovertible margin of victory. This was an attainable goal given the record of the Bush administration’s first term.
To those who would spend the next four years as they did the last, crying foul and lamenting the “hanging chad”: I wish you the best of luck. The Republican Party now has complete control over any legislative or judicial recourse you might seek to attain. The media spin will portray you as sore losers, whiners, and victims, perpetuating the image the right wing has worked tirelessly to bestow upon those with a liberal ideology.
The republicans have been winning elections, not because of touch screen voting machines or Supreme Court decisions, but because they have carefully crafted their message to make themselves out to be populists. They have spared no expense nor wasted any opportunity to present this message. Whether targeting “NASCAR Dads” or “Security Moms”, conservative strategists have portrayed their party as being the only choice for the common folk. This is the first part of the republican strategy.
The second part is the portrayal of liberals as bad. Whether it’s the “Massachusetts liberal elitist” or the “California pot-smoking hippie tree-hugger”, the word “liberal” now carries so much baggage it cannot be used in polite political discourse. With this in mind, we must not don our tie-dyed t-shirts and hit the streets in protest over election results that can not be changed. Nor should we adopt an attitude that the people who voted for Bush are less intelligent or not educated well enough to make the right decision.
Keep in mind, the idea of red states and blue states is divisive. Us versus them. All fifty states were purple, just different shades. The republican strategy depends on division.
To attain a deeper shade of purple in 2008, the left must create a positive vision of unity and a clear agenda for enriching the lives of hard working people everywhere. The language used to describe this vision should be concise and simple. We live in the age of the thirty-second sound bite. The republicans have mastered sound bite politics, and the democrats have not.
It was obvious to all that watched the debates; John Kerry was more intelligent and knowledgeable than Bush on every issue. He won all three contests by unanimous decision. This did not carry over to the general election because intelligence doesn’t necessarily make for an exciting sound bite.
Between now and the 2006 mid-term elections, there is much work to be done. The left is diffused into many noble causes but lacks a uniform message. This message must be crafted carefully and be made as simple and concise as possible. The language used must encompass the broad diversity that makes the Democratic Party so accessible and must seek to unite rather than divide. Instead of gay rights, women’s rights, minority rights, etc., equal rights should be the cause. Most importantly, the message should be positive.
America was founded on principles of truth, liberty, and justice for all. To battle those who would subvert those principles we must meet them on the field they have created and prevail. Meaningful change can only be effected from a position of power. We have come to a vital turning point in American politics and our actions will be measured by the generations to come. If we choose now to be victims, so might we choose that as the fate of our children.

14. How to get Media coverage for protests?
E.g., I understand hundreds of thousands protested in NYC during the RNC, but we heard almost nothing about it.

Any possibilities of smart-mobbing, so the authorities aren't already prepared to cart everyone off as soon as they show up? Other suggestions?

They have already begun. Check out Rense.com. Scroll down to the letter section. Very few people want to deal with this reality; it's too "real" for them. They just want to "feel protected". Good luck.
