Looking for some stats
I need to compare demographics between the 2004 and 2006 elections. Would like to have data by race, gender, age, education, religion, income, party affiliation, and geographic location (region, state, MSA). Data from 2000 and 2002 would also be nice as I am looking at trends and trying to document target groups and areas in the 2008 elections.

Where is the best place to get this kind of data?

Thnx.

1. If you don't need it in a hurry
I'd recommend talking with the folks at Election Defense Alliance and the Vote Count Protection Project. They're very busy right now, but things should calm down before too long.

Both groups are linked to here:

2. Well, it sounds like you want
the exit poll data, which unfortunately isn't available for free download anymore, and the 2006 data isn't archived yet (though I presume it will be).

But here is a link to the IVPSR at the University of Michigan, where the data is archived:

4. That looks like a treasure trove of data on all sorts of things
I'll have fun digging through some of that....
