PBS Newshour (1/16/08) devotes significant time to voting machines!!!
I just turned on the evening news (PBS version) and their intro promo indicated that the second half of the program (roughly) will be about the voting machine change-over in California.

I'll watch it and post here. Y'all do the same. Real curious how they'll cover the issue.

The hits just keep coming.

I wonder if all early innovators (like us ERDUers) fought the urge for a chorus of "I told you so"s.

1. You know we have been fighting this fight
I fear they will find OTHER ways... but hell, the price of freedom is eternal vigilance!

2. Well-done piece. Balanced, very pro-vvpb, looking forward to PBS posting link
The piece included extended and multiple comments from David Dill, Dan Ashby (hey there, Dan!!), Debra Bowen and others. I'm just sorry they framed the story as about California's issues with voting machines -- the piece did not present any information on the national scope of election reform.

Can't have anything, and still want more. But our issue is getting accelerated coverage these days, thanks be to the Goddess.

4. One of the best short pieces I've seen on the subject.
Usually they interview some rep from Diebold or ES&S who denies everything. This time they focused on the CA situation and talked with somebody from Election Defense Alliance, David Dill, and Debra. They also talked with a disgruntled elections official in one of the places in CA who thinks they can't make a change fast enough and that the machines are plenty safe and mainly hunkey-dorey just as they are, but the interviewer asked some apt questions and the guy seemed a little unsure of himself, even as he gave the usual line about how safe and secure the machines are.

5. Here is a link to the story.
For some reason (?!?), a text version of the report is not available on the PBS Newshour home page. However, you can listen to the report there (it is in the lower right hand corner).

Here is the PBS link: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/
