Dear small minded people whose only care is that their candidate wins |
|
this recount is not...I repeat NOT about who wins or loses.
It is about opening the hidden election process where private companies use propietary software and hardware to count our votes in secret and have no requirements to prove it works.
we need to open the process up so everyone one can see how it works and allow the citizenry to regain their trust in the election process.
No vote needs to be lost when there is a paper trail and audits are done.

2. Well, So Far, The Machines Have Done Amazingly Well In Hillsborough. |

So far, I'd say original results are holding up with much confidence.

3. Here's a VERY IMPORTANT Snip: |
|
Snip
He says he was told by Secretary of State William Gardner that his office doesn't get involved in tracking what happens to those memory cards. Some have reportedly been returned to LHS, and may have had their memory erased already.
"When you have a private company counting 80% of the votes, and you later learn that the memory cards are unaccounted for, you have a serious question about the transparency and accountability in that process," Bonifaz said.
He notes that federal law requires all materials from elections be preserved for 22 months after the election. So if those materials have already been lost, destroyed, or over-written, there are legal questions that must be addressed.
Snip
How do we trust our election process when this type of crap occurs? It's not about your candidate... it's about the process.

zero errors.
we have around 15,000 votes with 60 votes miscounted so far.
they just started and the sos site hasnt been updated since yesterday.
from www.bradblog.com
there were some 550 ballots that were not read by the op-scan at all. They were seen as blank ballots. Officials there noticed the problem, and then hand-counted some 3000 ballots after the error was discovered.
Apparently, as we've seen elsewhere, voters were given the wrong pen to use and the op-scanners did not "see" this particular type of ink.
(Town of Stratham, 9:00pm)
PROBLEM: Printout indicated 550 "blank voted" ballots which indicated that bad pens were used. SOLUTION: Went to Stratham to confirm that approximately 15 bad pens were used on election day. The town had, by that time, hand counted and announced those results as official.
PROBLEM: Too many blanks, used wrong marking pens SOLUTION: Sent Gerry and Tina with lucid machines.
(Town of Lebanon, precinct #2, 9:00 (am or pm?))
PROBLEM: Corrupt Count. SOLUTION: Shut off and back on. Count back to 155.
(Town of Manchester, 9:30pm)
PROBLEM: P/U 3rd Bad Machine per John S. (likely refers to John Silvestro, owner of LHS) SOLUTION:

6. Wow, Are You Behind. 20400 Votes With A 77 Or So Difference (not counting the nobodies), Or 99.623% |
|
That's a pretty goddamn good job from those machines so far, with all due respect.
Brad blog knows how to earn its living. Let's be honest here. It knows how to overhype the shit out of stuff. But facts matter. As the facts stand right now, as it relates to Hillsborough, the results were 99.623% accurate. Pretty damn near perfect.
And your "why do you hate democracy" statement just makes you look like a moron.

5. There's no democracy in this country it is a "sham". The idiot Dems have |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-17-08 01:26 PM by GreenTea
had four years to scream loudly and address this incredible fascist tactic & control of the people with the stealing of our votes, but the idiot Dems seen no problems.
Votes are being suppressed, uncounted, manipulated and hacked everywhere in this country....but get the people to believe it, or care to do something about it. All one can do is try and motivate others, most just refuse to believe the obvious or care only about the "fun" aspects of being "political" not the necessary hard work and time.
How many around here said when the Dems took back congress, "Duh, there's no electronic voting machine problems cuz the Dems won back congress, duh"....
Even through republicans stole congressional races all over the country in 2006, and their losses would of been a lot larger, the Dems would have a larger majority today, if the republicans didn't hack & steal ALL of those races.
The republicans laugh and know over 80% of America vote on republican corporations owned on the same very easily hackable machines, and the republicans own the proprietary software!
It was the same republicans who made sure of this when they wrote and passed the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) in 2002!
Do the Dems care....they have their fucking heads in the sand or up their asses!

8. They are doing the recount by machine?? |
|
"there were some 550 ballots that were not read by the op-scan at all. They were seen as blank ballots. Officials there noticed the problem, and then hand-counted some 3000 ballots after the error was discovered."
Only when a mistake is found they recount by hand??

Even if the recount shows minimal errors, it is vital that recounts & audits be done more often. The proprietary vote-tallying systems are hackable and should be replaced with open-source systems. In the mean time the threat of hand-recounts should keep shenanigans to a minimum.
The real threat is the continued use of touch-screen machines (with or without a paper receipt) because the vote totals can be manipulated much more easily and accurate recounts are impossible.
Hand-marked paper ballots should be mandatory nationwide.
