The county thought these new touch screen machines would enhance your voting experience.
"We thought it was the best system at the time, plus it met all the accessibility requirements," said Stacey Kern.
But nearly $3 million later, those machines won't be collecting your votes. They'll be collecting dust.
"Our county now has a voting system not approved by the state, therefore we are not allowed to use it," said Kern.
The county bought over 900 voting machines from a company called Populex. The company was supposed to get its absentee ballot system federally approved before the November election. Because of money issues, it never happened. Now, the city has to rent new machines and foot the bill.
"Personally Im in favor of the old fashion way. Let's mark a ballot. Why can we not go back to that until a lawsuit is pursued?" said voter Maureen Mulhall.
