If you think DU can at times be a bit hectic, disorganised and difficult to get your head around. You are not alone. Hence the need for a DU VOTE FRAUD WORK (write, organize, research, kick) Team . So far ther are about 50 of us and some interesting projects already under way - the more the merrier however….(Note that the name has been changed to avoid confusion with BBV.Org's ever so excellent Cleanup Crew)

If you are willing to do any or all of the following then WE WANT YOU…

But in this election, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean your vote wasn't systematically eliminated.

In fact, the sheer scope of this year's election's problems should alarm anyone who takes the time to look. In North Carolina, official voter records acknowledge that Craven County "lost" 4,500 votes to a computer problem. A nearby North Carolina county reported another 11,000-vote mistake. In Florida, Palm Beach and several other counties actually reported more votes than voters. It doesn't take a conspiracy theorist to question the validity of these results.

I live in Wisconsin, and I read in my local paper that locally, and state wide, they want to spend up to 17 million dollars on new voting technology to "make sure the vote is accurate, etc., bs." There was NO mention of the particular company (s) who would get the contract, nor their record (fraud, problems, etc.) The specifics were conveniently left out. I want to get a letter in fast, and more specific, but concise, talking points on this would be greatly appreciated by me:)

But in this election, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean your vote wasn't systematically eliminated.

In fact, the sheer scope of this year's election's problems should alarm anyone who takes the time to look. In North Carolina, official voter records acknowledge that Craven County "lost" 4,500 votes to a computer problem. A nearby North Carolina county reported another 11,000-vote mistake. In Florida, Palm Beach and several other counties actually reported more votes than voters. It doesn't take a conspiracy theorist to question the validity of these results.

Also in Florida, voting in the counties of Baker, Dixie and Franklin showed a pattern completely unique to anywhere else in the country. These voters were 70 percent registered Democrats but voted 70 percent Republican. Somehow, only in these three counties did voters overwhelmingly cross party lines like this. Inexplicably, these same voters voted in a liberal minimum wage hike. This makes no sense.

In Ohio, one precinct tallied an impressive 4,258 votes for Bush and just 260 for Kerry. What was most astonishing was that only 638 people voted there. Just across the state, heavily Democratic Warren County officials inexplicably locked down a vote count from the press and witnesses, claiming they were on emergency orders from Homeland Security. Terrorism in Ohio, just during those two hours and just on the second floor of that one building?

Ralph Nader's request for a recount in New Hampshire materialized after the vote count came in a whopping 15 percent different than exit polling. Exit polling has historically been very accurate, but was off in 8-plus swing states by an unprecedented 4-15 percent, depending on the state, andall in favor of President Bush. The probability of this is less than 1 percent, according to statisticians. Innot one state did Kerry outperform exit polls by more than a standard deviation. Interestingly, these kinds of extreme irregularities did not occur this year in any states with paper trails.

Some claim that the exit polls themselves have been manipulated, but they aren't conducted by just Democrats. The companies who make the computer voting machines, however, are owned and operated by Republicans to the exclusion of Democrats. Walden O'Dell, chief executive of Diebold Inc., touchscreen voting, is openly a Bush activist and big time fund raiser. That's like letting the Yankees ump their own playoff games. Walden said on record that he is "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president this year." He just may have. As Stalin said, "Those who cast the votes decide nothing, those who count the votes decide everything."

Unfortunately, the copyright concerns for the compu-voting companies' Bottom Line take precedence over the preservation of a fair and transparent democratic process for America. This means no voter verification by impartial parties. In the meantime, Diebold and leading Republicans object to paranoid questions about election results while they flatly refuse to implement a verifiable voting system. What are they so afraid of?

Computers are not the only reason many votes don't count. "Spoilage" of votes occurs when provisional ballots or ballots with errors on them are simply discounted. In counties with minorities, who vote heavily Democratic, and in states with a Republican secretary of state, the rate of spoilage is disproportionately higher. It's blatant political profiling. Like Florida's 180,000 spoiled votes in 2000, Ohio and New Mexico have spoilage rateshigher than Bush's 2004 margin of victory in their respective states.

Tens of thousands of extra votes, lost votes, spoiled votes and inexplicable voter swings are not "glitches," so let's stop minimizing this. Official election results indicate that thousands of votes were unquestionably lost and/or stolen in this year's election, so one does not need to believe there has been fraud to question the process. These injustices are at best unacceptable, systemic flaws and at worst, fraudulent practices in an unfair system. They are serious threats not only to Democrats, but democracy.

I'll come right out and say it. I must be retarded because I desperately want to help and don't feel qualified to do anything. I can't do graphics, I suck at stats and everyone who I've written to has either ignored me outright or told me to drop it. Furthermore I live in Va so it's not like I can FOIA anyone in OH, Fla or any of the places that it would matter.

I'm not trying to get sympathy, just a sense of directions. What can the clueless people do besides give money to the people that actually know what they're doing?

50 States Mislead Their Voters Part 2 - ALASKA

DIRTY TRICKS - Lt. Gov. Loren Leman, the Republican chief of the Division of Elections (In Alaska, the Lt. Gov. serves as Secretary of State), was responsible for the wording of a ballot initiative that a Superior Court judge ruled was "inaccurate and biased." (USA Today) A group of Democratic legislators drafted an initiative which would "abolish appointments and require a special election in all cases except when the vacancy occurs within 60 days of a primary election," because in 2002 Republican Frank Murkowski appointed his daughter Lisa Murkowski to his Senate seat after he was elected governor. Lt. Gov. Loren Leman wrote the initiative's ballot summary which erroneously read that Alaska could be without a senator for three to five months, and kept the summary secret until the ballots were printed. "Emphasizing one consequence to the exclusion of others is impermissible advocacy," Judge Moorage Christen wrote in his decision.

VOTE SUPPRESSION - "Calling it an outrageous attempt at voter suppression, Alaska Democratic Party (ADP) chair Scott Sterling blasted the Murkowski Administration for challenging the ADP's absentee voter mailer that was previously approved by the State Division of Elections. It is clearly a tactic being used by Gov. Frank Murkowski and Lt. Gov. Loren Leman to prevent people from voting absentee and suppress voter turnout." Sterling noted that the Republican Party fills out absentee ballot forms with the name and other information, including party registration, of the voter, even though the ADP was specifically told not fill in such information. Sterling also noted a recent Republican Party mailer signed by party chair Randy Ruedrich that accused the Democratic Party of "legal manipulations" by challenging Loren Leman's wording of the Trust the People ballot initiative. The courts ruled against Leman and ordered the ballot be reprinted (Daily Kos Diary Snuffleupagus).

Just two days before election day, Laura Glaiser, director of the state Divisions of Elections, announced that 100 electronic voting machines made by Ohio-based Diebold Election Systems would not be used "because of increasing concerns about their lack of a paper trail and vulnerability." "I have to look at the integrity of the voting process," Ms. Glaiser said (Anchorage Daily News).

"In 2000, 13% of the total vote was uncounted in Alaska (Edison Media Research). "In 1998 Alaska had 66,000 more registered voters than Census estimates of its voting age population. And in almost every election cycle there are reports of turnout exceeding the actual number of registered voters in a given precinct." (US Senate Committe).
