I noticed you wrote "Reps". My Dad isn't a Repub, he is an Independent although my Mom says the last Dem he voted for was Johnson. He voted for Perot in 92 and 96, Bush in 2000.

Hindi is a language; Hindu is a religion. When saying "a Hindi," you're saying from "a person who speaks Hindi" (which is only NORTHERN INDIA).

some reasonable people that i respect and love thought of Kerry as a lier and untrustworthy guy for no particular reason. Ironic in that is what i feel most about shrub. I think the problem might not have been that Kerry didn't distinguish himself from bush enough but rather didn't distinguish himself from gore enough...

15. Because he is an ungodly, anti-Christ individual !!!! |
|
I ACTUALLY received this email before the election...EXCERPTS only. THis is enough torture for one sitting: "... the Democrat party stands diametrically opposed to the word of God on every moral issue that is on the table in every election. A vote for Kerry Tuesday is a vote for the ungodly practice of homosexuality, of same-sex marriages, of infanticide, of fetal stem cell research, of keeping God out of our schools and so on.... Kerry is so adamantly in favor of these terrible sins that he passionately, and publicly shakes his puny little fist in the face of almighty God in promoting them. God help this nation if such an ungodly, anti-Christ individual should become our leader! "... I have always supported for many reasons, but after being there in person and witnessing in person just how passionate, how down-to-earth, how sincere he truly is, I could not help but write this e-mail. President Bush, contrary to all the lies, smut, slander that has been thrown at him, in my opinion, possesses the greatest amount of integrity and character of any president in my time. "

preacher that she had to vote for *, Kerry was the anti-christ. She knew nothing about the state and local races, wasn't going to vote in any of those, simply the Presidential. Being under the scissors, I was hardly in a position to argue with such sound reasoning as she was using, so I simply smiled and told her the best way to make sure that she got ALL the right ones picked was to just pull the Republican lever, not any of the individual ones - cause the devil had worked on the hearts of those election officials and they had scared good people in with the devil worshipers to confuse god-fearing folks into voting for the devils choices - of course, in NC the only office NOT on the str8 party ticket is President by state law

Do the people just not know about the hundreds or globally wrong things he did during his four years? Or do they just not care?
I understand people have different view points on marriage and abortion and crap, but those are moral issues, not political issues. At worst those decisions should be kept for the state, at best they should be kept for the church.

I was having breakfast in a diner in the redneck area of town that I live in about a week before the election. There was a table of 3 women nearby. They started talking about the election. They were complaining that so many Democrats were knocking on the door and calling, etc... this one hateful woman started talking about Kerry and his Vietnam Era association w/ Jane Fonda, etc... she turned super hateful and was saying things like Kerry should rot in Hell, etc... (real friendly folks!).. but the most outrageous statement was made by another woman at the table. She said that the country is really in a mess right now and that George Bush made the mess. She reasoned that since it was his mess, he should be given the chance to clean it up! He was in her logic, DESERVING of a chance simply because it was "his mess!" Deep thinkers at the diner that day....

Where did that all come from? Who was telling people this? I assume some lovely "Christian" churches.
Didn't some teacher tell some little kids he was a baby killer?
In the Newsweek article it said Alexandra Kerry saw some protesters and they called her a baby killer. Was this just the standard Repub crap? How nasty.

My husband and I were visiting my sister's family in Texas a few years ago. One of my nieces came up to us when we were getting ready for bed. She seemed really upset. She asked us "Why do you like Clinton? He kills babies!" This girl was like, eight years old! My sister vigorously denied that she had ever put that idea into her kid's head, saying she must have heard it from a classmate at school. Scary!

here in Rednecklandia, the local hate-radio outlet (ok, it's WSB 750 AM) ran an advert informing me that John Kerry "voted for partial-birth abortion six times."

39. Because he wasn't anti-war enough |
|
He was "in the middle" on too many issues for too long, but the worst was the war. There are quite a few Republicans that are not happy about the war -- it's enormously expensive (which irks the fiscal conservatives), it was based on an outrageous set of lies (which still offends the some people's moral sensibilities) and it involves killing a lot of people (I know the media doesn't convey this point well, but there are quite a few people who take "thou shalt not kill" seriously).
Kerry didn't connect with these people until they'd mostly made up their minds.

If Lieberman and his "Joe-mentum!" had won the nod, some Republicans probably would have crossed over because Joe is a centrist. But Republicans won't vote for a liberal any more than Democrats will vote for a conservative. Clinton got a lot of crossover votes, as would someone similar in the future (Bayh, Richardson, Warner, etc).

My parents would say "image" things that had nothing to do with policy or reality.
I would over and over point out policies of the chimp and the disasters being caused and it wouldn't matter...
it was like concrete brain of denial all over some "image" perception.
I personally think the Karl Rove propaganda machine successfully manipulated the Reptilian brain of the American public and hooked into "something" that caused people to shut down their brains and vote on whatever this "something" hook was.
My parents are not anti-choice, but do identify themselves constantly with Republicans...which is amazing because to me, the Republicans of their generation are now democrats and these Republicans are radicals out to destroy the country. Nixon looks more like a democrat today.
