If Electoral College does vote Kerry into office isn't that poetic justice |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 01:29 AM by AnIndependentTexan
It was because of the Electoral College in 2000 that Bush became President. Shouldn't we remind people that the popular vote doesn't count? We can also use this to point out what hypocrites they are for saying the popular vote won't change. We all knew this might happen. We all thought how funny it would be if Kerry lost the popular vote, but won the Electoral College. Now is the time to make that come true.

3. Folks, you just don't get it. $hrubco will do anything to stay in power. |
|
They have to. If they don't stay in power, think how many of them might be subject to various legal actions for a WIDE variety of misdeeds and actions.
It was NEVER in the cards for them to lose. Never.

12. No -- they will try to do anything to stay in power. |
|
It's one thing to attribute ruthlessness to them. It's another to attribute omnipotence. Attributing ruthlessness encourages an attitude of realistic determination among those of us who want to see their ilk gone. Attributing omnipotence, even unintentionally, helps to feed an attitude of "why bother? Nothing will work. Lets all just give up and bend over".
The first is a healthy attitude that has people thinking up what-if scenarios and planning countermoves in advance. The second amounts to passive cooperation with evil.

14. Please, don't misunderstand. I attribute no omnipotence to these assholes |
|
...in any shape, form or fashion. I just know that they would do anything to win, or at least give the impression of winning, because as we well know, the meme can overshadow the message.
And please, don't interpret ANYTHING I say or have said to mean compliance or complacency. NADA, NO WAY, NYET. The election was stolen, plain and simple. These assholes would have done anything, including murder and treason to stay in power. We just have to try harder.

15. I didn't -- I thought you didn't choose your words well. But |

I am very concerned about cynical defeatism taking hold.
There are some people who claim to be a part of the "left" who, for years, have made a career of cynicism and shooting down every effort to effect change. If they haven't come out of the woodwork yet here, I'm sure those little termites are just waiting in the wings to latch onto the next setback and gnaw us to death. And I'm absolutely sure that there are, or will be, clever freeps eager to sow despondence and disbandment.
On the other hand, I am always ready to sow another kind of defeatism. Anyone who thinks that, if they get too tired or too discouraged or too distracted by this they can always give up and go back to their normal life, needs to understand that until Bush is dealt with there is no normal life left for them.
Oh, sure, for a few months or a year or two it may be possible to pretend. In fact I guarantee you that you will be able to pretend just long enough to put you and your pretending neighbors to sleep. And then it will happen, nibble by nibble by nibble, and you will lose everything you have ever valued, especially your freedom, and perhaps even your life.
So don't fall asleep.
Of course its necessary to take sanity breaks from time to time. But those sanity breaks should be measured in hours or a few days, not months and years.

Saw him on MSNBC, most were hard to pick out wearing ponchos and holding umbrellas. Clinton did thank the shrub for sending four planes to bring them down from DC.
