COBB NEEDS MORE THAN DONATIONS NOW!
I donated to Cobb so he could have his recount in Ohio. I just received the following in an email from him.

On November 11, you joined over five thousand contributors
and six hundred (so far) volunteers who stepped forward to
help our campaign stand up with millions of other across the
country. We are voters across the political spectrum: Greens,
Libertarians, Independents, Kucinich-Dean-Kerry Democrats and
Republicans ready to restore integrity to our voting system.
We insist that the legitimacy of representative government be
defended from the flagrant threats to the public's confidence
that this and the previous election have engendered.

Below, I want to share with you news of our progress toward
ensuring a complete count of the votes in the Ohio election.

But first let me cover a couple of other quick topics.

Snip--------

We need voter verified paper ballots, publicly financed elections,
proportional representation and instant run-off voting, open
access to the ballot, the enforcement and extension of the
Voting Right Act and non-partisan election officials.

In this letter we want to (1) update you on recent developments
and our plans for the recount effort, (2) invite you to subscribe
to new list serves designed to keep you in the loop or even
actively engaged as we move this campaign forward, (3) ask folks who
are willing to fill some critical volunteer roles, (4) ask you to
spread the word about our efforts and (5) inform you that unless
you confirm your subscription invitations described below,
you will not see any further email from us again until we have
a final report to share with you after Congress certifies the
election on January 6th.

We hope that everyone who has contributed or volunteered will
join our new recount-news@lists.votecobb.org list. This is
a low-traffic read-only list where our press secretary and
campaign manager will share with you breaking news, by, about
and of interest to those who support this recount campaign.

When you contributed, our campaign had not yet posted our
volunteer form. While we appreciate your financial support
and could not proceed without it, the truth is that a recount
without our campaign providing independent oversight of the
process will not provide meaningful feedback on the problems
or do much to improve public confidence in the system or in
this year's result.

We're asking you to consider coming to Ohio with us.

We estimate we will need nearly 2,000 volunteers to monitor
recount activities in all 88 Ohio counties. As I write this,
we are still nearly $20,000 shy of our fundraising goal
for the Ohio recount (even as we continue to consider the
problems in New Mexico and other states). Please send your
friends and family to our site and urge them to volunteer and /
or contribute to this vital work.

Snip------------------

We have asked Holly Hart, of Iowa, to lead our efforts to coordinate
the participation of volunteers in this important historical effort to
reclaim public confidence in our elections. She needs your help. So
far, 600 volunteers have stepped forward. We will need at least 1,400
more before we arrive in Ohio. First she needs help communicating and
coordinating with 2,000 people over the next few days.

Please call Holly at 319-337-7341 if you can organize within
New York to mobilize volunteers to come to Ohio and to
help us raise this campaign's goals and profile within your
community and state.

The corporate media is busy belittling and ridiculing
our efforts to defend and expand democracy in Ohio and by
extension in the rest of our nation as well. We need your
help to counter the attacks. We must not let them manufacture
our consent to expecting stolen elections cycle after cycle.
We are inviting everyone who has lent their support to this
campaign to follow that up with letters to the editor explaining
why you are supporting this recount effort. For ideas on what
you might include in such a letter, please visit our website at:
http://www.votecobb.org/recount/be-the-media

Please help us break through the media white-out
of our efforts by urging others to come to our <a
href-"http://www.votecobb.org /">web site and to contribute their
financial and volunteer support to this effort.

Our efforts are already well under way.

-- On Monday, Common Cause, the National Voting Rights
Institute, Demos, the Fannie Lou Hamer Project and People
for the American Way Foundation issued a joint statement in
support of the Cobb and Badnarik demand for an Ohio recount.

-- In the past week, we have raised over $200,000 of the
initial $250,000 our staff has budgeted for this effort.
And with your help we expect to reach our goal by this coming
Monday.

-- On Wednesday, our team of attorneys overnighted to each Ohio
county election director asking them to prepare for the recount.

-- On Friday, November 19th, our attorneys delivered a bond
to guarantee our $113,600 recount fee.

-- We have rehired staff we had just laid off at the end of
the campaign so we can continue this work. We have so far
identified 600 of the 2,000 volunteers we predict will be
needed for the work in Ohio. We are organizing now to train,
house and feed the folks on the ground in Ohio who will monitor
the recount on our behalf. We have established new list serves
to support this effort.

-- We continue to investigate what role we might play in New
Mexico, to monitor developments in Florida and other states
and to build alliances with citizen based election reform
groups across this nation.

-- And our efforts have now been endorsed by Ohio Congressman
Dennis Kucinich.

We need an election system and election officials we can trust.
The problems in Florida in 2000 and the problems in Ohio in
2004 will repeat themselves in 2008 unless we do something
about it. Americans can agree that our elections should be
administered by an independent non-partisan commission, and
not by the state chairs of presidential campaigns.

Again we thank you sincerely for your participation in this
Democracy Movement. We look forward to seeing you in Ohio.

Yours for a just, sustainable and democratic future,

David Cobb
and the entire Cobb-LaMarche Team

"Thank you to the Greens and all others whose support for a
recount will rescue a shred of honesty in the conduct of the
2004 Ohio election."
-- Dennis Kucinich.

"First they ignore you. Then they ridicule you. Then they
fight you. Then you win."
-- Mahatma K Gandhi
owing. They need lots of volunteers there to help.

Does anybody post these emails to overseas websites? We all know how much they don't want the shrub in office and are on our side, I can't help thinking quite a few of them would be willing to donate if they new. Anybody spend any time getting these messages out to our overseas support?

11. Wouldn't that be illegal?
I seem to remember a few scandals - one with Clinton and one with George W. about funding from foreign sources. Does anyone know for sure?

4. California volunteers... ALERT
Hi all,

I received an e-mail as well and it sounds like they are looking for help from Californians who can afford to spend some time in Ohio. If you are in California and think you might be able to squeeze some time out for participating in the recount effort, please post a response here in this thread with the Subject header "California," and go to the link in the original post to volunteer.

We can do this. According to the e-mail they will need about 2,000 people and already have about 600 of them set to go. I know it is a bit of a sacrifice, but I think we all know what this means for this Country, and to the world as a whole.

The difference between a dictatorship and a democracy rests in the integrity of our ballot box. Let's go fight for our Country. Let's go show the world firsthand what it means to rob the American people of their vote. In these coming weeks and months, we will rewrite history, "together."

Let's go "Rock" the vote Ohio-style!! Who is with me? Please, sign up now! :)

- George

21. Holly Hart of the Green Party say Hello to the DU !!!!!!!!!
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 03:02 AM by GetTheRightVote
I just called her to volunteer and she thinks that the DU is great.
She has received various calls from DU members and is very happy to hear from us down under. Please keep up the good fight and help out with contributions or your time if possible.

Their web site has been having a few problems but they should have that resolved in a few hours. Try the www.votecobb.com, I was just able to get on it fine. They had one site hacked into but do not believe that this is the same case but looking into it.

It was suggested that perhaps we could let Keith O. into the volunteering information to get it circulating. Past on the Hello from Holly Hart, Green Party, she is so happy with our great work.

23. FLASH BULLETIN! Blogger calls march on Fox NOW!

Combined protest against Fox and the rigged election —

The objective is specifically to challenge the wall of silence on the rigged election by news outlets like Fox and make a breakthrough —

Please spread this around, check it out and kick it —

A blogger has posted an extremely detailed, specific call to protest the rigged election AND the suppression of the truth ABOUT the rigged election by Fox News — a combined event mass march protest to be held in New York City — AT — Fox headquarters on 6th Avenue —

Main protest chant —

“Rupert Murdoch, tell the truth! Fascists rigged the voting booth!”

Nobody thinks of marching against a news organization in the streets. This is going to be a shot heard round the world.

Very comprehensive protest plan with very helpful travel details, the works —

See blog on this,

“A Call To March On Fox —

For refusing to tell the truth about the rigged election!” —

http://acalltomarchonfox.blogspot.com/

Discussion thread in General Discussion Forum — please help keep this kicked —

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=2688242

“A Call To March Against The Rigged Election”

Please spread these links around to help us organize this.

Please join that discussion there and help keep it kicked. Marching on Fox starts at post 117. But read the whole discussion. And read the blog. Discussion also discusses an earlier blog on marching against the rigged election and media. Second blog being discussed is on a specific, detailed call to march on Fox specifically as a key initial part of this protest against the rigged election. Fox is a key ENABLER of the rigged election. They’d never get away with election rigging on such a vast scale if it weren’t for news suppressers/distorters like Fox. Read both blogs.

Tremendously detailed comprehensive blog —

It gives the exact location in New York City of all of Rupert Murdoch’s empire, New York Post, Fox News, News Corporation (Murdoch’s big parent company — it owns almost everything else he’s got) — all of that — it’s all in a single building on 6th Avenue between 47th Street and 48th Street in mid-Manhattan. Murdoch’s own office is in the building too. We can be chanting against him right outside his window. All their offices are not on very high floors either — as low as the second floor — they’ll see and hear us and have to pass us on the way in. All those blow-hard Fox talking heads lying about the election — we’ll be in direct shouting matches with them as they come and go. And Fox itself is on the SECOND Floor. How good is their studio soundproofing in there????? Everybody at Fox is going to be bitching that they can’t get any work done. There’s no way they can hush this up.

Since it’s a vicious circle — news organizations like Fox suppress our protests, making them seem futile, therefore the proposal is to combine objectives and protest Fox AND the rigged election TOGETHER right outside Murdoch’s building and tie the two evils together — “Murdoch suppresses the truth about the rigged election!” — and invite other New York news organizations, many of whom DETEST Murdoch, to cover it. (You didn’t know New York news people and news executives hate Murdoch? Blog goes into that a lot.)

Blog has many links to anti-Murdoch resources and video of Bill O’Reilly telling everybody to shut up, shut up, shut up, over and over. What a sewer rat! Right on camera! He looks really mean and drunk in one of the film clips. Jack Daniels? And he’s on camera hotly lecturing us, “It is our duty as all loyal Americans to shut up.” The video nails him good — and Fox. Blog gives other video links too.

Tired of being told to shut your trap? Open it. March against Fox and the rigged election in New York City.

But the idea is to put it all together, to protest and denounce Fox outside their offices for leading the COVER-UP of the election heist. It’s a shot across the bow to the rest of the media that they better start telling the truth about the election, or they’ll get protests like the one at Fox. All the national news media are based in Manhattan. They can’t say this protest was too out of the way to get to.

Blog also has links to downloadable anti-Fox flyers, petitions and other resources against Fox that could be distributed at the protest march.

Blog goes into tremendous detail about the strategy, the advantages of starting protests in New York as opposed to other cities (huge liberal population would augment people coming from out of town), and it’s the news media capital of the world. Very friendly terrain. New York Democratic congressmen are demanding investigation of the stolen election. No rednecks in the population or the government, no paranoid security apparatus like you have in D.C.

Blog includes complete “mother lode” total orientation guide to using New York subways with downloadable maps you can enlarge, how to use mass transit to get from Amtrak’s Penn Station to the march, how to use mass transit to get from the airports to the march.

Let’s make it happen!

Keep kicking that thread so everyone will hear of this!

25. Ohio Dems/Kerry Asking For Help Now!
http://www.ohiodems.org/index.php?display=ReleaseDetails&id=200466

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 22, 2004

Kerry/Edwards Campaign Participates Ohio Recount Ohio Democratic Party Seeks Volunteers to Help Recount.

COLUMBUS – Assuring Ohioans receive an accurate count of all votes cast for president has prompted the Democratic Party to participate in the initiative to recount the results of the Nov. 2 presidential election.

“As Senator Kerry stated in his concession speech in Boston, we do not necessarily expect the results of the election to change, however, we believe it necessary to make sure everyone's vote is counted fairly and accurately,” said Dennis White, Ohio Democratic Party chair.

Columbus Attorney Donald McTigue will lead the recount effort on behalf of Ohio Democrats. The party will be recruiting volunteer witnesses to assist in the recount process in all 88 counties.

On Election Day and throughout the month of November, angry Ohio citizens have expressed frustration with long lines, malfunctioning voting machines and undelivered absentee ballots. There have been inconsistencies in the unofficial reports of the election, including an error in one Franklin County precinct that gave George Bush 3,893 more votes than actually cast for him.

The recount can begin after the official results are certified, which likely will be in the first week of December. The Democratic Party wants to be fully prepared to begin a recount immediately.

Volunteers can sign up at the Ohio Democratic Party website: www.ohiodems.org and the party will also accept contributions to help offset the cost of completing a recount.

“We are proud to stand up for Democrats all over the world who have asked us to make sure every vote gets counted. And we want to demonstrate that Ohio can do better in the future to guarantee every voters who wants to vote, has a chance to vote,” White said.
