al from on Charlie Rose - "...we have to realize is that we lost..."
Al From, founder of the Democratic Leadership Council is on
Charlie Rose tonight:

Charlie: Al From is here and is the leader and founder of the
Democratic Leadership Council. There are many that credit his
policies and his support of helping win Bill Clinton the presidency
in 1992. It's a pleasure to have him back at this table to talk
about the democratic party and where he thinks it is and where he
thinks it ought to go.

Charlie: Welcome.

Al: Delighted to be here Charlie

Charlie: Tell me your analysis of the 2004 election.

Al: Well, I think the first thing that we have to realize is that we
lost this election. Ah, this is the second election in a row that
the R*'s won a majority of the overall popular vote. They did it in
2002. They did it this year.

Al: Ah, and it is clear to me that if the Democrats want to become a
majority party again then we have to begin to win back the middle
class. We didn't win the middle class in this election. We need to
win the middle class. We need to do that with a compelling agenda.
Really taking on the big challenges of the country...<blah, blah, blah>"

Anyway, nothing really about election fraud besides that he doesn't seem to believe in it.

1. Yeah, like Gore "lost" in 2000
How can these people not suspect voter fraud when voter fraud was rampant in 2000? They're acting as if these goons would never stoop to something so low.

24. DLC ARE LOST. They are laying down and dying. If they want to rollover &
die let them and replace them with those that will standup and fight. Good riddance I say.

2. It astonishes me that people actually believe that crap.
Gee, how do I become a founder of an organization like this? How are members selected? Who are they, and why should we listen to them???

6. How do we get rid of them/him?
He's not saying anything I need to hear. I won't tolerate that trash about how we lost because of the gays, or because we need to be better organized, or change our image... yada yada yada. We lost because they cheated. It's the "F" word AGAIN!

11. I started the Foundation For Conspiracy Heritage
years ago. I had no money (no Coors or Scafies) and only one other member. However, both of us held the title of 'super special senior analysts.'

That's exactly how it works. Whoever has the money has the microphone.... and the "titles."

ps. Al Frome can suck lemmons. Bah!!!!

In steering to the middle they've pushed us so far to the right that Nixon would be considered a moderate democrat these days

5. This guy eventually burns my cork every time I see him....
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 01:05 AM by Gloria
He kept saying we have to show "respect" ....and I ask, what respect do WE get from the GOP and the fundies??? None.
He sort of lumped Farehnheit 911 in this...he said it wasn't good for us because of the hits it took at Bush, and therefore, didn't show respect and that's why we lost some voters....Really, is Bush GOD??? What respect did Clinton ever get, even before Lewinsky???

Then, as an example of "values" issues we should be pushing...he brings up "National Service"...yeah, right. People want to hear about obligatory service for young people when they're starting to worry about a draft...

The man pisses me off....

The only thing I agreed with was that Clinton said that abortion should be legal, safe and rare and that broke through to some pro-lifers. Clinton apparently ran 20 pts ahead of Gore or Kerry among pro-lifers. The word "rare" indicates a degree of soul-searching on the issue which can open up some to listen to other issues like healthcare and move a vote. Which leads to the question, why isn't that the OFFICIAL theme for all Dem candidates?????

12. maybe this is all part of the master plan
...like Kerry/Edwards sneaking quietly into the Ohio recount, Randi and Michael Moore and everybody except Jesse Jackson being so subdued about all the blindingly obvious election irregularities and well-documented computer glitches. (I really really find it hard to believe that if there were no organized plan to do SOMETHING eventually, there wouldn't be at least one person from the DNC or the Kerry campaign pointing frantically at the voting machines in the precincts that had more votes than voters and going "WTH???")

Not to defend or attack Al From. I know nothing about him (which perhaps is telling--where's he been all this time?). But maybe all this "this was a fair election, we lost" thing is to take the partisan flavor, and thus any backlash or attitude from the media, out of any eventual election fraud investigation or court case.

I'm an optimist, but not an unrealistic one.

19. Yes, I agree, we have been gathering plenty of evidence
and I believe something is up. I'm a citizen and I knew B* would steal it. Many people I know feel the same way. I think that Kerry Edwards and others working with and for them are aware and prepared. I think the silence lately is bizarre. If it weren't part of the plan, it wouldn't be happening. Come on, MM and AL F silent, right. Furthermore, I think KE are smart about this, because they would be eaten alive by the "liberal media" and they know it. They would also be an open target for the "sore loser" game. I think they are doing the right thing. I think they knew this would happen.

I too am an optimist, well actually, I am optimistic about this issue, and I also am not unrealistic.

13. I guess there are 2 ways to look at it.
Either From is a complete idiot, out of touch, and showing his true Republican colors.

or

The Democrats are playing this masterfully.

Let's not forget Edwards comments today, too. He sounded a little critical of Kerry's campaign.

So if you are the Republican corporate media which way do you script this?

Could the Democrats be feeding some cognitive dissonance into the spin cycle?

What is WRONG with this man?
Was he born yesterday? Is that when he fell off the turnip truck? Has he no sense of history? Even the Wall Street Journal concluded that Gore won (after it was too late to do anything about it.)

Al From, we aren't delighted for you to be there at all.

20. YOU are the reason we keep losing Al From!
what a jackass. When you take economic issues off the table and stop sounding like Democrats you allow the election to be about gay marriage and abortion, the only issues that are left. His strategy got us the votes of a few suburban soccer Moms at the expense of the South and rural areas everywhere.

22. Charlie Rose charges for Transcripts, Audio and Video
so I don't have a link to post. His name is spelled 'Al From' according to the Charlie Rose Show Website.

He basically said that we all need to be more like R*'s because we are now the minority party in terms of numbers.

While we do need to be more like R*s, we should also keep the issues of abortion and poverty.

For get about him... Charlie Rose had a cool thread on his forum that was following election fraud issue and begging Charlie to give the issue some air time. I wouldn't mind seeing another Jackson internview...
Here is the link to the thread:
