Crossfire covering the recount |
|
I got this in the mail:
"Plus, some lawyers from the Kerry campaign are joining the fight for a full recount in Ohio. Is there any possibility that the outcome could change? Are they wasting their time and taxpayers money or are they just fulfilling Kerry's promise to have every vote count?
Join Tucker Carlson and Paul Begala for Crossfire, 4:30 p.m. Eastern, 1:30 p.m. Pacific - live from the George Washington University. Teamed up with Judy Woodruff’s Inside Politics, we promise to give you the best of politics anywhere."

64. spin = damage control |
|
The media and the Repubs are following their damage control agenda.
We don't need a presidential yacht, which cost what, $2 million? There's your waste of taxpayers' money. Needless to mention $5 billion monthly in Iraq.
Frame it as "damage control" and watch them sputter.

Democracy is frickin' expensive!
I don't know if I said this to you or someone else, but you know when you see the supporting players warming up, it's only a matter of time until the message is fully formed and becomes bulleted talking points.
That Murdoch-y woman on Harball last night was repugnant...Get over it indeed. Count my damn vote and prove to me it was counted.
That's the message to get out.

The bill charged to requesting candidates is based on current law on books, which by the way is several years old. Actual cost of recount will be much higher and the difference will be charged to the taxpayers.

32. The Question That Begs To Be Answered..... |
|
..is "How can Blackwell be Co-Chairman for the Bush Campaign in Ohio and be the sole arbitrator of the vote counting, as well as the rules and regulation changes which he imposed prior to the election?" He can say all he wants that county chairs were for Bush or Kerry, but they didn't change any rules and regulations for voting!
This is like having the home plate umpire of the World Series owning one of the teams!

Bush stole the election through lots of little fraud operations. Each one adding a little bit here, and a little bit there.
You say that doing this would require a huge conspiracy. That's just not true. All you need to do is gradually, over the course of decades, promote people to run the elections who you know and trust to do everything in their power to bring you votes, and who you know are crafty and good at doing things without getting caught.
There's no command center for vote stealing. There's no central coordinator. The only good that would do is for the other side, by providing a link back to the candidate. It's done because, by and large, politicians are an unethical bunch who stick together like glue. Especially the ones on the right.
This time though, it looks like there is the possibility that Bush (that is to say, Rove) got desperate. They knew that their rag-tag collection plate of stolen votes might not go all the way for them this time, so they did something big, systematic, and maybe, in the end, fatally stupid. We'll see how the Five Star story pans out... any raod can end up being a dead end if a tree falls across it. But in the meantime, we are GOING to go after the "little guy" in the vote stealing network, and we are going to put him out of office, and if possible, in jail.

There are people here that needed to hear that as well.
Not everyone on DU has the picture straight. There are a lot of great people here, but the occasional reality check still needs to be issued to some.
Plus, the one piece of news that I do take at face value coming out of the news coverages of Bush's counterfeit mandate is that the conservative "back yard" will respond better to us if we respond better to them. Take the time to calmly explain, instead of yelling. It isn't that much time, and it isn't wasted.

48. Again, you are overestimating... |
|
... the level of organization involved in this.
It isn't an organized effort at all. That's why it is hit or miss.
And, I'm sure that Democrats do it to, to some extent. However the right has done it far too long and too well for us to be able to ignore anymore. Not that any citizen should have ignored it, from either party, in the first place.
If we had been on the ball as an electorate over the last half decade, we'd all be voting ranked-order by now. Just the fact that we are not is a complete giveaway to what is going on here.

<sarcasm off> I think he made some good points, and I for one do not want to stick my head in sand and convince myself that Boosh won by fraud. If that is all we have to attract votes in future, I am afraid our party will keep shrinkingin future.
Every remedial action begins by first admitting there is some thing wrong and we need to correct it. That applies whether you have a gambling problem, drinking problem, eating problem, or election losing problem.
I am hoping and praying the next candidate we field will have positions on issues similar to Bill Clinton. Never ignore success.

In a world where the truth is constantly spun away as soon as it happens, it is damned important for us to keep saying it. Over and over. So we all understand it and believe it against all of the propaganda against it. And that's one reason dissent and even Freeps are good. They only make us stronger!

Dear Riceman, please inform you about the Florida 2000-Election. Gore HAD more votes, but the court stopped the recount. And "dare" to give you Fahrenheit 9/11... ;-)
It's curious that all the big irregularities were going in favour of Georgie...
By the way, the manner the Republicans (Rove...) are fighting in each election campaign is below every moral value... Speaking of Stalin, Hitler etc. - the common thing is that every dictator tried to make the fears of the people bigger. This is just primitive and Bush had no fantasy at all (speaking of lousy candidates).
So, that's the bad taste we have in mouth when we talking of Republicans (or neo-conservative Republicans).
They believe in aggression, not understanding - and they GET aggression (of other countries people). They believe the strongest will survive, and forget all rules beside that. And that's why we think fraud is very possible.
If speaking of moral values, this sounds just hollow out of their mouths... If you really believe in moral and JESUS CHRIST, then come on our side. Here you find the values of Jesus, like helping the poor and week... IGNORANCE is a sin - and this president is one of the biggest sinners.
