5. One of the stupidest movies I have ever seen.
For one thing, the principals zoom around -- from town to country to mountain to desert -- in milliseconds. At one ridiculous point, the main group of actors is effortlessly crossing the High Sierra when they pass through crowds of Coolies who ARE AT THAT MOMENT busy constructing the transcontinental railroad (IOW there IS no railroad yet, so there cannot be a 3:10 to Yuma).

It's just an awful piece of shit, and the more one knows about the history of the American West, the more absurd it is.

7. railroad construction didn't stop with the completion of the transcontinental railroad
They're traveling from Bisbee, Arizona to Contention, Arizona. I don't recall them saying which railroad, specifically, they were working on; many Chinese workers came south to Arizona (and some wound up working on the railway there) after the first transcontinental railroad was completed. At any rate, construction continued on the Southern Pacific Line even after the line between Tucson and Yuma had been completed, and there were other railroads in Arizona as well, so I don't think it would be unusual for there to be a railroad being built even after there was a 3:10 to Yuma.

11. Exploding horses.
The movie lost all credibility when one guy shot at a horse during a chase scene and it exploded, just like in a car chase... and how Christian Bale ran all over creation like that with one leg is beyond me.
