Have you guys seen Dog Day Afternoon?
I just watched it last night and it really fucked me up for some reason.

There was just something really sorrowful about Sal that when he got shot in the head it fucking destroyed me inside. The whole thing got me way to emotionally invested for my own good.

6. John Cazale: wonderful actor
Edited on Mon May-25-09 09:52 PM by Skittles
From IMDB: Cazale appeared in only five feature films in his career, and all of them were nominated for Best Picture

gone way too soon

12. He died of cancer, and Meryl Streep, who was his lover at the time,
saw him through his last days.

3. Attica! Attica!
I swear my 3 year old grandson was saying that the other day and I forgot to ask my kids WTF?

Anyways, yeah, screwy movie. Sal was written as an 18 year old. Sorrowful is an understatement.

4. Great movie. We studied it in school. A classic.
and it is a movie that gets under your skin.

I just watched Milk, and that one is stuck in my head. So much I didn't know about that era. I don't know how much of the movie was true to Harveys' personal life (or Dans' either) but I'm assuming the speeches were true. It's shocking to realize that gay men were rounded up like theives and beaten by the cops in the 70's. No wonder they were mad.

11. They were? They still are today.
And a transgender was beaten not long ago in Memphis in the police station and then later found shot to death. The killer has not been found.

7. It is one of the best movies from the greatest decade of film...
and I'm one who considers Sidney Lumet, for the most part, to be an overrated director. But not when it comes to Dog Day Afternoon.

9. Yes, one of my favorite films (news: Cazale documentary)...
"I Knew It Was You", a documentary on John Cazale (Sal) was shown at Sundance film festival & is supposed to air on HBO later this year.

Great, great actor (& I'm a big Pacino fan too).

"Wyoming."

13. Of course.
In the theater. When it first came out. Rough movie. Not what I expected going in.

14. A long time ago.
The emotions in it were really visceral. Because it was based on a true incident made it even more emotional.

And ESPECIALLY take hostages.
