Hong Kong action hero Chow Yun-Fat is set to star in the upcoming sequels of box office smash "Pirates of the Caribbean" according to Yahoo News.

Citing Chow's wife, Jasmin Chan Wui-nin, Chinese-language newspaper Apple Daily said Chow will play the famous 15th century Chinese pirate Cheung Po Tsai for the second and third installments of the film.

Chow will team up with members of the original cast including Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush and Keira Knightley along with newly joining Keith Richards as the father of Depp's character.

7. Just in case you didn't know
Depp admitted that he based his character on a combination of Richards and Peppe Le'pew. So they got Keith to play Sparrow's dad.

I doubt it's a big part and he'll probably be written as wasted...so he's perfect for the role.

12. I was expecting something interesting and entertaining from all the hype
but I just found it to be almost goofy and just not cool at all. Just hackneyed mainstream filler as apposed to the way people were describing it as something extraordinary.

Johnny Depp was very good but had nothing else good to support him. I just have to conclude that most of the hype has to be connected to the odd fanboy and fangirl fixation phenomenon with both Kiera Knightly from the guys and Orlando bloom from the girls and gays. Both absurdly perplexing obsessions from way too many people.

14. As a fan, it wasn't just about the pretty to me.
Yes, Johnny Depp stole the entire freaking movie, and there was so much blinding pretty on the screen, but the main reason I loved PotC to death is because I just thought it was fun. I'm a big fan of the whole pirate mystique as it were, and even though the movie did have some pacing flaws, I thought it captured the sense of swashbuckling adventure in a way that few pirate movies of recent vintage seem to have. It's funny because as a movie based on, of all things, a theme park ride (which I happen to also love), it really had no right to be any good whatsoever. I mean, it should have been another Country Bears but without the Christopher Walken (that's what PotC was missing, dammit. Walken! More cowbell!).

I thought it was a load of campy fun that didn't take itself very seriously but at the same time managed to transcend its roots as a stupid summer Jerry Bruckheimer movie. YMMV, obviously, but I think it's more than a bit unfair to dismiss the movie as just a love letter to hormonal Depp/Bloom/Knightley fans. Hell, my total muggle of a sister liked the movie, and she hates any movie that isn't either a lame-ass James Patterson/Tom Clancy/John Grisham adaptation or something that could have been taken from Oprah's book club. And, for the record, she can't stand Orlando Bloom (I think Mom dropped her on the head a few times when she was a baby).

17. POTC -
What really surpised me was how funny Johnny Depp was... I mean Monty Python level of funny. That's what made the movie.

I never expected that of such a "pretty" actor, but I am a convert. He's a character actor cursed with a pretty face.
