Poll question: Wes Anderson Films - Hate them or Love Them?
Wes Anderson's films include Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, and the new one The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

I can't stand his movies, but I think that he's the type that you either love them or hate them.

1. Bottlerocket had some great dialouge. Anderson is so pretentious and
full of shit after that movie -- which wasn't even a full movie. And his Charlie Rose interview was blechhy. He does use cool rock music is his films.

2. There are some great ideas in his films...
... but the whole doesn't match the quality of the best scenes/ideas. I found the story of Rushmore totally unoriginal, but the form was rather pleasant.

3. The Royal Tenenbaums is one of my all time favorite movies
I guess that since I come from a family of geniuses (with an IQ of 136, I'm the stupid one BTW) I have my reasons. But still I really just love that movie.

4. Any examples of other cross-generational friends after
the same woman wherein one finds out that it wasn't really what he wanted?

I ask because I found the story quite orignial. Max was a bit of an average kid, not some perfect student or some overly troubled one. Herman's life was so shitty his reaching out to max and Olivia was understandable even if it meant sacrificing his family.

5. I think the first Wes Anderson movie you see is your favorite.
The style is so distinctive that you feel it's freshest with the first movie.

I think this is why really great directors like Ang Lee and Steven Soderbergh have to try so many different genres. And it's why Casino seemed so lame after seeing Goodfellas.

But I stil think his movies are really creative, and I think Luke Wilson's writing probably has a lot to do with it.

8. HATED Royal Tenenbaums, disliked Bottle Rocket.
Something tells me I'm not a fan of Wes Anderson.
