He's a badass, all right. Blue Velvet creeped me out every bit as much as Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

Incidentally, I was watching the Twilight Zone marathon this morning and a very young Dennis Hopper played a neo-Nazi getting advice from a mystery man on how to control the masses. Those instructions were like Bushco's playbook. "Talk to them like you're one of them." "Tell them THEY'RE the minority." "Make someone a martyr." (9/11, anyone?) Of course the mysterious stranger turned out to be Hitler.
