JOHOR BARU: Eight years ago Zulhaidi Omar noticed he was getting frequent stares from a particular Chinese girl at a supermarket in Batu Pahat where he worked ...

“The girl who was always looking at me was actually my elder sister who suspected that I was her brother because of my striking resemblance to our father.”

Yesterday, the family highlighted their plight to the media because they wanted to change Zulhaidi’s name to a Chinese name, as well as his religion on his identification card to Buddhism instead of Islam ...

Ethnic Chinese-Malaysian swapped at birth, seeks to renounce Islam (4 p.m.)

KUALA LUMPUR -- An ethnic Chinese Malaysian who was mistakenly handed to a Malay Muslim couple at birth in a hospital mix-up said Monday he is seeking to renounce Islam and acquire a Chinese name.

Predominantly Muslim Malaysia's constitution does not allow Muslims to renounce their religion, and doing so is considered apostasy - punishable by jail in several states ...

4. I think he may be allowed to convert
because he isn't Malay at all. And since the country allows freedom of religion.....om mani padme hung
