Wanna Bet Richard Dawkins Gets Pushed Off Zahn Tonight Due To ANS?
I was looking forward to Richard Dawkins appearing tonight on Paula Zahn. I assumed it was in reponse to the show she ran the other night
on Atheists - a panel discussion that had NOT A SINGLE ATHEIST on the panel! Fair-n-balanced, CNN!

Now that Anna Nicole is dead, I expect Richard will be bumped to some time...never.

Crap!

1. Hmm
Well thanks for the heads-up anyway, in case he does make it on. Dawkins always cheers me up.

2. Damn! I almost forgot
he was going to be on ... hmm, you're absolutely right, though. Hopefully he'll be rescheduled for tomorrow night. Unless there's a new development in this Anna Nicole story, I don't see why they would need to completely cancel. (Right? Oh who am I kidding, its the MSM ...)

3. Maybe Paula will ask him to comment on Anna's death.
His response would be amazing.

7. Mmm ok.
If by "pegged" you mean "grossly misrepresented in a childish and unreasoned fashion", then I completely agree.

9. I think that was indeed what Buzz meant. :)
You may not like his conclusions or his demeanor, but his analysis and reasoning are as solid as it gets.

These ignorant numb nuts are clueless as the history of this country by constantly lying about christian nation bullshit. I guess they have never heard of the Treaty of Tripoli: "Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion" http://www.earlyamerica.com/review/summer97/secular.html

I suggest they read something other than their one fictional book and branch out to Susan Jacoby

It all comes down to a lack of education in this country. It's truly disgusting.

11. They double bumped him
He was supposed to be on two nights ago and bumped him for ANS. Then they bumped him because 24 hours is just not enough time to discuss all things ANS. I have nothing against the poor woman. But I do take issue with the media's absolute infatuation with her and their plastering of her life across our airwaves. The media uses Our airwaves at a price. That price is that they are to provide a source of news and information to the people and for the people. They have perverted this service and turned it to their advantage and our destruction.

The condition of the atheist in our society is an issue that is important to me. The life of ANS is something that has no impact on me other than a distraction and a bit of lament for the passing of a human being. I am disgusted with the MSM.

12. This may seem a silly question: ANS was big news in the US, was it?
I was off DU all last week, and have no intention of trawling the archives to see what people were talking about. What news I did hear was about Jerusalem, Iraq, and bird flu in the UK. There was a mention that ANS had died, causes unknown - and that was it. I mean, all she did was marry a rich guy and inherit his money - it happens all the time. Would they really rearrange news schedules for that?

13. There are only two types of news program in the US
Entertainment news and entertainment news pretending to be news.

14. It really is difficult to get one's mind around it
Yeah, the media practically wet themself in their rush to cover this story. I mean we have a death rate of US soldiers in Iraq at unprecidented levels and they are tripping over themself to talk to the man that saw ANS's blond hair in the hospital. You would almost think it was a slow news day.

I have no disrespect towards her as a person. But I do not believe for a second that any aspect of her life rose to the level of coverage it recieved in the media. She at most from the start should have been a blerb on the human interest page buried deep in the newspaper.

15. I was supposed to be Paula Zahn tonight
Edited on Mon Feb-12-07 12:14 PM by TechBear_Seattle
They've been airing teasers about Initiative 957 all weekend. But the promo on the CNN website (see http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/paula.zahn.now/ ) now says, "Discrimination - against atheists? Backlash from one of the most controversial stories we've ever brought "Out in the Open." Tune in Monday at 8 p.m. ET."

Frankly, I don't mind being bumped in favor of Richard Dawkins.
