Blessed Easter-Blessed Resurrection!
On some threads, people have opined that non-Christians are offended by the concept of Resurreciton of Jesus. I wish to state that this is not always the case. Resurrection can be seen in many ways. It can be seen as a complete change, a death from the old self to a completely new one--the Goddess Inana had as her totem the snake, which symbolized resurrection and change-a snake "resurrects" when it comes out of hibernation and changes as it sheds its skin. Some Native American shamen have explained visions of insects as a symbol of resurrection--they go from the "death" of caterpillar, for example, to becoming a whole new creature. The caterpillar to butterfly analogy has been used in mystical circles, both Sufi and Christian, too.

So Blessed Easter and Blessed Resurrection to you--in whatever meaning you take those words.

1. Thank you, ayeshahaqqiqa, and to you as well!
I try to hold this as a day for hope of life and renewal - for me, it's specifically a Christian thing, but if others can honor the day with their traditions and beliefs, more power to them.

Happy Re-Birthday, Jesus!
Emmy, Daddy, Gene - hope you're all having a good time together - keep each other company until we see you again :-)

2. Yes thank you for the good wishes.
This has been a particularly meaningful and thoughtful Easter for me. In part, that has come from the stimulating discussions here, so I thank all of you for that.

4. Really?
"On some threads, people have opined that non-Christians are offended by the concept of Resurreciton of Jesus."

Why would anybody be offended by the concept of the resurrection of Jesus. That is weird. I mean, it most definitely didn't happen, but why would non-christians be offended by Easter.

p.s. I'm an entomologist...and complete metamorphisis is a fascinating topic. I'm trying to find a good link on the internet to an article about metamorphisis, but everything seems to be sort of simple. Here is the wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metamorphosis_(biology)

5. Thank you
I had an awesome holiday with all the grandchildren, everyone in my family, great music at church, good sermon, flowers everywhere and a wonderful sense of rebirth. Oh, and great food.

Add to that the Sopranos at 9, and it was a number 1 kind of day.
