has anyone read God's Politics
I'm thinking of buying it but I want to know if it's worthwhile first

1. I bought it and read it - a good read
but not as hard hitting as my 95 year old friend Monsignor Charles Owens Rice, who writes for the Pittsburgh Catholic. Definitely more readable then Michael Lerner.

And, I am not even a Christian. ;)

2. I just started reading it yesterday
But it is too soon to make claims as to its worth. It is at least an attempt to address the religious issues that are dividing the country and identify how conservative fundamentalist have hijacked the christian religion for political gain.

You may or may not have seen this article posted on DU a few days ago but it was pretty good which was what motivated me to obtain a copy of the book.

3. Also just started the book
Our Dem Town Committee has a book club and this the next one on our list.

Also to soon for me to give it a thumbs up or down.

In the intro and most of the first chapter I felt like the author was equating "morality" with "religiosity" but it seems like he's backing off that a bit now, for example - "The issue here isn't religiosity per se, but rather the moral compass a political leader or party brings to public life." Well said IMO.

And it is interesting and I think it will be help me better understand religious perspectives on politics.
