Bond denied for Lexington Co. teacher accused of sending a boy child porn

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - In court Tuesday, bond was denied for a Lexington County teacher accused of sending child porn to a teenage boy over the internet.

Police say the Rev. Timothy Lynn Brumit contacted a Virginia police officer on the internet who was posing as a 13-year-old boy.

"He's one of the most dangerous people I've dealt with," says Chapman. "Just wanting to kidnap a child and bring him to South Carolina for the purpose of sex - I can't subscribe to that. He's very dangerous."

Brumit taught English at Batesburg-Leesville High School. According to the SC State Department of Education, Brumit taught in Aiken School District in 2000, McCormick School District from 2001 to 2005 and then Allendale School District from 2005 to 2007. He is on administrative leave with pay.

Brumit was a pastor at Sunset Boulevard Baptist Church in Aiken from 1997-1998. He was also a pastor in Jasper County from 1995-1997.
