"It's not a ministry widely accepted within the church," said Lisanne McMurray,
a former stripper and author of a book, Web site and gospel newsletter tailored for exotic dancers.

1. Not necessarily
but definitely fundamentalist Christian. This site's questionnaire for former exotic dancers was written by Citizens for Community Values Ohio, whose website claims "Officially Associated with Focus on the Family as a Family Policy Council in Ohio · Protecting the Family Since 1983"

Looks like their main gig is anti-porn. They're all about protecting the family -- the way they define "protecting" and "family," of course. They wouldn't be interested in protecting my family from homophobia, for example.

4. fundamentalist Christian was my read also. Anti-porn is strange for
strippers that I have known.

Although in their own way many had strict ethics/moral values that even fundies would find hard to object to.

2. Yeah, so what...
Ex-skanks get converted and turn to God.
So what?

Lot's of low-life scum bags in prison turn to the bible, after they realize how badly they have fucked up their lives.

Just what we need, another "save the whatever" organization.

Let's concentrate on what makes a young woman decide that it's a good idea in the first place, to hang off a pole naked while having dollar bills thrown at her.

Religion...I've about had enough of this shit in the past two months.

3. Where do I sign-up?
That sounds like a fun job. Meet a bunch of bad girls that want to be good girls. For most, they go right back to being bad, and that could be fun.

5. I don't see what's wrong with this organization
A distant cousin of mine was a minister of a Baptist intercity church with a special outreach to both drug dealers and prostitutes working the streets. While exotic dancing is legal, many people look down on these women. Many churches treat these women poorly and give them the message that they are "sinners" and don't have a place in church. It doesn't seem like this group is overly pushy. REally, I don't think that it is a bad thing.

7. I think this is a good thing
The job of the church is to go to the un-churches, otherwise it's just country club of like minded people in their comfort zone. Also, I don't think that many churches would turn these women away as sinners. Any real Christians already admits to being a sinner themselves. There is not sin that is worse than the other sins.
