Megachurch pastor arrested on online solicitation charges

DALLAS — A former pastor of a suburban megachurch faces six new charges of using the Internet to seek sex from minors.

Joe Barron, 52, was arrested Wednesday and was being held at the Brazos County Jail in Bryan. Bail had not yet been set for Barron, a former pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano.

Four of the counts accuse Barron of online solicitation of a minor and were investigated by Bryan police in Central Texas.

The two other counts are from Louisiana and accuse him of computer solicitation for sex, according to the Brazos County Sheriff's Office. Barron apparently thought he was communicating with a teenage girl in Louisiana but he had encountered an undercover sting.

2. These pastors and these megachurches
don't give me the impression that they are Christians. They sure don't act the way Christians did when I was a kid, and I was raised in a church of 3000, pretty big for its time. I don't read of any outreach to folks without someone trying to convert them. Don't read of them opening up soup kitchens or shelters in the poorer areas of town.

4. It's going to interesting
to see how the megachurches fare during their first for-real-no-fooling economic downturn since they've arisen. These guys have been as go-go expansionist as any hotshot developer, with big debt overhangs and myriad service contracts that need to be honored.

At a time when they should ports in the storm, it could be the churches themselves who wind up in need of charity. Their Prosperity Gospel is going to look tin plated when the pastors are pleading poverty to their flocks.

I think that these hucksters could be put out of business because they failed their most fundamental of callings is good for a smile.

What the hell is wrong with the disgusting assholess that WANT to fuck little kids, let alone actively look for them on the internet. It's a fucking kid for crying out loud. Your telling me you can't find an older woman to get your fucking jollies off with?

Raping little kids, raping women....misognyst and power-hungry dominators...that's what we need to confront. And most of these fuckers look for positions of power so they can do this shit with impunity.

Ugh..now I'm frustrated. I'm gonna go run a PCR.
