Vatican condemns Spain's gay marriage law
http://www.swissinfo.org/sen/swissinfo.html?siteSect=143&sid=5744650&cKey=1115047228000

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Vatican's top family affairs official on Monday blasted Spain's law allowing gays to wed as a destruction of the marriage institution and urged Christians around the world to oppose such unions.

Cardinal Alfonso Lopez Trujillo, head of the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Family, also said adoption of children by same sex couples was "moral violence" against children and jeopardised their personality and stability.

In an interview with Fides, the news agency of the Vatican's missionary arm, Lopez Trujillo said the Spanish law allowing gay couples to marry had "changed and falsified the very definition of marriage".

The law, passed by parliament last month in the once staunchly Catholic country, allows same sex couples to wed in civil ceremonies and gave them the same inheritance and adoption rights as heterosexuals.

1. Did anyone honestly expect them to support it?
The only good Love is between two married heterosexual Catholics of opposite genders who only join their genitalia once a month for the sole purpose of creatin' a baby...and then they must pray for their sins.

2. This is old news, I think. The Vatican issued a statement on this subject
a couple of weeks ago, I think.

No surprise in the response...the Catholic Church is against gay marriage.

4. Why can't The Vatican just say gay couples have to buy indulgences?

7. The Catholic church is sinking into pure evil
It was bad enough when homophobic and intolerant John Paul was running things. Now you have a former Hitler youth, who was the grand architect of the new child molesting cover up rules, as their new Pope. I don't see how anyone could say the Catholic church represents anything moral or Godly.

My apologizes to the Catholics on this board, but that is how I feel. I can understand forgiving him for being a former Hitler youth, but I don't think that is the kind of behavior you see in a future Pope. You expect them to be a shining example of human virtue.

8. Doesn't this only drive a wedge between Spain and the Catholic church?
How much more damage can be done before Rome sees the light? Even this will never bring Protestants into the church, nor shall it endear neocons to the Pope.

9. The most offensive thing is the remarks about adoption
He (and implicitly, the rest of the Catholic hierarchy) thinks that homosexuals do harm to children. Why? One moment, they're saying that the 'immoral act' is the actual physical sex, and the next they're saying that it's some undefined effect that same sex parents have on children. They're saying that homosexuals are intrisincally inferior. It's pure bigotry.

10. Hateful institution, that Vatican.
Positively seething.

Catholics of conscience: throw off your chains. You have nothing to lose but a 78-year old pederasty apologist.
