Maintaining Spiritual Wholeness As The World Comes Apart

Hercules at Crossroads (between Virtue and Vice)

Friday Night on PBS - MOYERS

Bill Moyers sits down with Parker J. Palmer, founder and senior partner of the Center for Courage & Renewal, for a conversation about maintaining spiritual wholeness even as the economy and political order seem to come apart.

Robert G. Kaiser has been following Beltway politics for THE WASHINGTON POST for nearly 50 years. Bill Moyers talks with Kaiser about how our nation’s Capitol has succumbed to lobbyists and turned government into big business. Kaiser is author of SO DAMN MUCH MONEY: THE TRIUMPH OF LOBBYING AND THE CORROSION OF AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.

Some more info about the Center For Courage & Renewal:

When we reconnect who we are with what we do, we approach our lives and our work with renewed passion, commitment, and integrity.

Since 1997, the Center for Courage & Renewal has helped foster personal and professional renewal through retreats that offer the time and space to reflect on life and work. These retreats, called Courage to Teach®, Courage to Lead®, or Circles of Trust®, are led by skilled facilitators and make use of poetry and stories, solitude, reflection, and deep listening.

Developed with author, educator, and activist Parker J. Palmer, PhD, and the Fetzer Institute, this approach was initially created to renew, sustain, and inspire public school teachers. Educators remain at the heart of our mission, but retreats are also offered to those in serving professions such as health care, clergy, and law, as well as to anyone yearning to become more wholehearted in their life and work.

2. Spiritual wholeness? I'm thinking of a number of separate pieces...
...of my soul, stored in a various scattered objects, to guarantee my survival as the world comes apart.

What could go wrong?
