1. How will Ireland ever be united if...
...Protestants and secularists are seeing evidence of Catholic theocracy?

5. This kind of thing can actually unite the Irish Protestants and Catholics more
The law doesn't specify Catholic (or Christian) religion; and all the parties, Catholic/nationalist, and Protestant/unionist, were united to stop a recent attempt by British politicians to allow abortion in Northern Ireland.

Secularists get a raw deal (in Northern Ireland, anyway); there's a shortage of non-sectarian schools, but the politicians aren't interested in providing more of them. So some children have to go to religious schools even if they don't want to.

3. How does one determine guilt if the offended party doesn't make court appearances?
Edited on Mon May-04-09 12:36 PM by stopbush
Any person accused of blasphemy could assert in court that they were representing god. They have just as much proof to be doing so as does any church. "I represent god and he ordered me to tell everyone that he's a dim-witted asshole."

How could anyone prove that wasn't true?
