Pastor apologizes, will remove sign disrespecting Koran
Pastor apologizes, will remove sign disrespecting Koran

FOREST CITY, N.C. (BP)--After receiving volumes of negative feedback over a sign carrying a disrespectful message about the Koran outside the church where he is pastor, Creighton Lovelace has apologized for his actions and says he will remove the sign.

In a statement released May 25, Lovelace said he "did not realize how people of the Muslim faith view the Koran -- that devoted Muslims view it more highly than many in the U.S. view the Bible."

"Now I realize how offensive this is to them, and after praying about it, I have chosen to remove the sign," he said. "I apologize for posting that message and deeply regret that it has offended so many in the Muslim community."

Creighton is pastor of Danieltown Baptist Church in Rutherford County, N.C., which is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The portable display in front of the church read, "The Koran needs to be flushed."

2. If he thinks it only offended the Muslim community,
he is a bigger ass than I thought.

3. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
He's headed in the right direction, but he's still got a looooong way to go. What comes to mind at this point, is that Congressman who came up with that Freedom Fries crap. He too deeply regrets it, and is becoming a bitter opponent of that Iraq Invasion.

5. How much you wanna bet he's never read it
and doesn't realize how many passages refer to Jesus. There's a whole sura (chapter) named in honor of Mary, Jesus's mother. Many of the Old Testament prophets are also mentioned. To show disrespect for the Qur'an is showing disrespect for ALL the prophets mentioned therein, imho.

I agree with another poster who said one didn't have to be Muslim to be offended. I would be offended if any holy book of any religion was treated with disrespect.

Geez, didn't ya'll pray BEFORE ya erected that offense to ask Jeebus if it was the right thing to do? Maybe Jeebus approved your flush-the-Koran sign and then realized it was wrong...but he's god...who's never wrong...I'm confused.

The Tooth Fairy coulda told ya it was the wrong thing to do, ditto Odin and Zeus, for that matter.

7. Changing Nature of Revealed Truth
As you may recall, what Rev Dickhead said before was:

"I believe that it is a statement supporting the word of God and that it (the Bible) is above all and that any other religious book that does not teach Christ as savior and lord as the 66 books of the Bible teaches it, is wrong," said the Rev. Creighton Lovelace of Danieltown Baptist Church.

"I knew that whenever we decided to put that sign up that there would be people who wouldn't agree with it, and there would be some that would, and so we just have to stand up for what's right."

So what was right then is not right now, a few days later??

Praise the Lord, and Kill His Enemies ... we know what's right for the world. Whoops, sorry, turned out we were wrong the last time, but we are right this time: anyhow, if you don't believe what we believe (today) then you deserve to die, and if we can't managed that, at least we can insult and ridicule you.

Heretic, after all, comes from the Greek hairetikos meaning ”able to choose" and one of the (many) things we godbelivingchristers want to make sure of is that you don't choose wrongly. “Let the dead bury their dead” (Luke 9:60) and remember to Praise the Lord (and agree with us) least you be cast into the Eternal Fires.

God Bless Conformity.

Just make sure you keep up with The Truth of The Day.

Psalms 34:11: “Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD”

And that's what it is all about: Fear and Power. Who can say Bush is not a True Christian.

Peace. Panzerfaust.
