1. Wow.
Everybody but the active members seems to know that the DCC is a cash cow for a charismatic fraud who is fond of Guccis and fine cars.

I can't imagine how helpless parents, spouses, siblings, or children must feel to see someone sucked into one of these cults.

It seems the court very reluctantly applied a slap on the wrist sentence for what is usually a heinous crime in light of a family trying to rescue someone from that cult.

3. I might be about to find out.
The young 'un is seeing a guy who is a Scientologist. He hasn't even invited her to be tested yet, as far as I know, but I am watching it closely.

2. I think it's like the Elian Gonzales case, in that one has to hold ones nose and take a principled
position. No, I didn't want Elian to go back to Cuba. I do think he would have been better off here in the US. On the other hand I myself, under the same circumstances would have preferred to be with my father in Cuba than to live under any circumstances in the US. But I had to hold my nose and say that he should go back to Cuba if his father wanted him to. Otherwise, we would have a hard time justifying the demand for the return of US born kids to the US when they are abducted to Iran or someplace similar.

4. The problem is, the woman was 26. Old enough to make her own dumb
mistakes...

... and kidnapping, and being held, well...

those are not good things...

OTOH, I am (heh) not in favor of cults...
