Do you make an effort to avoid casting pearls unto swine?
If you do, then what techniques do you use to increase the chance that you succeed?

2. Yes, I quit all political contributions this year
Since you don't get good public servants no matter who wins.

9. You really think it was meant to be taken literally?
Did you ever see a speck of sawdust in someone's eye while you literally had a plank of wood in your own eye?

10. Did you really think I could have taken it literally? Oh, you've got some
two-by-fours in your eyes, btw.

11. Recommended for several reasons, not least of which is the
persistence of the question across all human eras.

You've got to have some heart to reach the question itself and you have to have brains, too. The OP far exceeds customary practice on both counts.

12. Patience is the key.
Everyone has a teachable moment. Casting pearls before swine is more about the caster than the castee.

16. Perhaps you are right, but some people aren't shy about
indicating that, in their opinion, there's at least one DU member who never has a teachable moment: Boojatta.

Now, whether or not they simply lack patience is not for me to say, is it?

17. Well, to be honest
I hardly ever understand what you're talking about myself. But hell, for all I know I'm just not smart enough to figure it out.

This place is a more difficult medium for communication than we think it is. We fling a lot of text at each other, but none of us is Shakespeare. We lose the bulk of communication tools that humans really require just by showing up in this place. That liability requires an extra measure of patience and intuition. Part of the reason I show up is writing practice to make myself understood. On the rare occasion I start a thread it sinks like a stone. At least you get 'em stirred up.

If you keep flinging I'll keep my catchers mitt on.

I'd like to reciprocate. Why not post about ten links to ten threads that sank like stones after you started them? It doesn't matter whether or not they were archived long ago. I might simply start a new thread along with my response and a link.
