Pope urges Christians, Muslims to join in terror fight

COLOGNE, Germany - Pope Benedict XVI decried the "cruel fanaticism" of terrorism today and urged Muslims to join Christians in trying to combat its spread.

"I am certain that I echo your own thoughts when I bring up as one of our concerns the spread of terrorism," Benedict said in blunt comments to a gathering of Germany's Muslim officials, the most extensive remarks on terrorism during his four-month papacy.

"Terrorist activity is continually recurring in various parts of the world, sowing death and destruction, and plunging many of our brothers and sisters into grief and despair."

Benedict did not mention specific attacks or assess blame, but it appeared significant that he chose a Muslim audience for his remarks on terrorism.

There have been man imams and other Muslim leaders who have issued statements against terrorism. What I'm wondering is when the Pope will talk with world leaders about addressing the underlying causes of terrorism.

3. Sure, right after Christians and Muslims hit Bourbon Street & party all

night. Give me a break. How about, Christians and Muslims go to those funding terror and either make them stop or give them some quiet time in a special place where they can't fund terror any more. It's all about the money. These guys can't walk across the street without real funding. Who gives it to them? Where are they? What's been said to them? Oh, Saudi Arabia for the first two ?'s and nothing for question three.

Won't one world leader speak the truth? Terrorist activity is "made to happen" by wealthy groups with lots of money to serve both the group interest and allow the terrorists to realize whatever twisted goals they have.
