"Dr." James Dobson on treating homosexuality...

From "Dr." Dobson's Newsletter, June 2002, with the title "Can Homosexuality Be Treated and Prevented?"

The boy's father has to do his part. He needs to mirror and affirm his son's maleness. He can play rough-and-tumble games with his son, in ways that are decidedly different from the games he would play with a little girl. He can help his son learn to throw and catch a ball. He can teach him to pound a square wooden peg into a square hole in a pegboard.

He can even take his son with him into the shower, where the boy cannot help but notice that Dad has a penis, just like his, only bigger."

:wtf:

I actually found the Dobson quote at the invaluable "Fundies Say The Darnedest Things" website:

1. so, um..... what about Lynne Cheney.... what should she
have done to 'save' her daughter?

Dobson is a fool- and a fraud- hiding behind the bible in his mansion on the hill-

Pretending to be an 'expert'- and loading burdens on others he couls NEVER carry himself.

He's sad-really sad.

2. James Dobson is fascinated with penises and masturbation

And for little boys who don't have a daddy, James Dobson will be happy to shower with them!

Challenges in the Teen Years

Masturbation

Dr. Dobson Answers Your Questions

Q. My 13-year-old son is in the full bloom of adolescence. I’m suspicious that he may be masturbating when he’s alone, but I don’t quite know how to approach him about it. Should I be concerned, and if so, what should I say to him?

<snip>

We were riding in the car, and my dad said, “Jim, when I was a boy, I worried so much about masturbation. It really became a scary thing for me because I thought God was condemning me for what I couldn’t help. So I’m telling you now that I hope you don’t feel the need to engage in this act when you reach the teen years, but if you do, you shouldn’t be too concerned about it. I don’t believe it has much to do with your relationship with God.”

What a compassionate thing my father did for me that night in the car. He was a very conservative minister who never compromised his standards of morality to the day of his death. He stood like a rock for biblical principles and commandments. Yet he cared enough about me to lift from my shoulders the burden of guilt that nearly destroyed some of my friends in the church. This kind of “reasonable” faith taught to me by my parents is one of the primary reasons I never felt it necessary to rebel against parental authority or defy God.

Those are my views, for what they are worth. I know my recommendations will be inflammatory to some people. If you are one of them, please forgive me. I can only offer the best advice of which I’m capable. I pray that in this instance I am right.

— Dr. James Dobson

4. Dobson is OBSESSED with teen sex...
I hear him bloviating sometimes on the local R-W Fundie station here in Los Angeles.

Dobson gets REALLY het up (pun intended) on the subject of teen-agers having sex. Rants on and on about it, he does.

Wonder how much hush money that old fraud has paid out over the years?

5. dayum
homosexuality has nothing to do with "girlish" things Mr. Dobson, (and it ain't just about the guys either, oddly)

I love throwing and catching balls, have done real full contact kickboxing for over twenty years complete with broken bones, blood, gore and other drama, and Mr. Sui and I have a tool collection rivaled only by Home Depot - and Mr. Sui's professional mechanic brother has total tool envy.

Oh and mine IS bigger -

Pegs and holes - whatcha gonna use James, a barbie hammer?

sheesh.

6. OMG! I just realized something strange!
James Dobson has almost the same number of letters in his name (if you round up) as Michael Jackson ...

and get this: Their names both end in "SON"!!!!!!!!!!!

So now it's starting to become clear why you never see pictures of both of them together! :tinfoilhat:

9. Can Religious Bigotry Be Treated and Prevented?
It can be treated, but it is very difficult and the outcome is not certain. It does not involve taking showers with others, or looking at their genitals.

Here are some resources for the treatment of religious superstition and the resultant bigotry:
