Get your affairs in order. Judgment Day is coming May 21st, 2011
Edited on Tue Feb-01-11 07:14 PM by cleanhippie
It is official, the date is set. Are you ready?

http://www.ebiblefellowship.com/

As a nonbeliever, I will most certainly be left behind. Are there any believers that would like me to take care of their pets, or contact loved ones that will also be left behind. Any of you willing to pay me in advance for the service? (Its a test of faith, you know)

6. I don't think we need to bother with that.
When their home is vacant just move in and take possession. And let them know that.

15. Not a chance.
When the 22nd arrives and they are still there, you will have the deed to the house.

18. Hmmm... yessss
Either they believe in the rapture or they don't. And you should be able to get a good deal as they can't do anything with the money.

"That's nice, I'm glad they're getting something 'cos they have a hell of a time."

4. So. . .that quickly??? I wonder if people believing in this have stopped
paying their mortgage, watering their plants, given their money to charity, and cancelled their plans for their next vacations???

If they haven't done all those things. . .maybe they don't believe in it either!

7. If it happens...
If the rapture happens, and they are still here, then what?

Does that mean they're one of the unsaved?

Or does it mean they left a zombie body behind that we can legitimately kill?

Edited on Tue Feb-01-11 08:57 PM by AndyTiedye
If the Fundies get raptured and go away, the Democrats become a majority pretty much everywhere, don't we?

21. The guy must have scrubed it recently
Most of the old failed predictions are gone, which is a shame, because he had a really cool graph meticulously working out the rapture definitively occurring in the fall of 2009 based on Jubilee. The newer ones don't look as good. As an adult ADHDer, my mind can really focus in on numbers and I can go off on all kinds of wierd tangents when I come across a number that interests me. His site is full of wacko numerology woo. A true treasure trove for driving myself to distractive oblivion.

14. That "prophecy" is from Harold Camping...
He's predicted the Rapture before and - SURPRISE!!! - hasn't been right yet. Like most prophets, Xian, Muslim or free-lance, he's basically a walking methane generator. If Camping predicted the sun will rise tomorrow, I would verify it with the Weather Channel.

I spent Xmas among my relatives in the South, and saw several billboards announcing the May 21 date.

20. From their website:
Welcome to the Electronic Bible Fellowship
(also known as EBibleFellowship or EBF)

EBibleFellowship was named for the following reasons:

Electronic: We believe that the Lord is using the electronic medium (radio, internet, etc.) in a tremendous way to save a great multitude of people outside of the churches and congregations of the world.

Bible: The Bible is our authority. No man made confession, or creed, or doctrinal statement of any kind has any authority above the Bible. We are living at a time when the Bible is being highly exalted by God. The Word of God is supreme in all it declares.

Fellowship: We are a fellowship of believers whose desire is to have fellowship with God through His Word. The Bible teaches us that the church age has come to an end; therefore, we have no affiliation or identification with any church or denomination of any kind.

Thank you for visiting.

26. Do we have names of associated people or affiliated organizations?
When I searched through the website, for example, I found lots of links to "Family Radio" -- but also a disclaimer that eBible Fellowship had no connection to "Family Radio"

Is this a circus employee's hobby website? Is this a project of some otherwise known fundamentalist group? What is this?

Sorry to disappoint you, but Christians on DU don't fall for that "End is Nigh" crap.

23. DUers love "The End is Nigh"... when it comes to environmental apocalypse
Like those who thought the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico was going to kill off all life in all of the oceans, and then we'd all die after that. Or those who thought the space probe crashed into the lunar south pole was us "bombing the moon", with some people fearing the moon would be destroyed, the tides on Earth would stop, and that would somehow lead to our DOOM.

There seems to be a bunch who worry about 2012 predictions too.

25. Just like all the Y2K nonsense
as for the Mayan calendar thing, I spoke with someone (very staunch Catholic, btw) about it & he said that the Mayans viewed time as a procession of "eras," & that the current "era" would end in 2012, but a new one would begin. Whether he's right, or talking out of his butt, I don't know because I just don't care enough to research the Maya that much or look into the "End of Days" stuff, but what he said made a whole lot of sense. People have been saying the world is coming to an end since the day after we came into being anyway.

If it happens, it happens, oh well. If it doesn't, what the hey, life goes on. :)

27. There was some truth to the potential Y2K problems...
...at least, as far as computer tech was concerned. Certainly the risks were exaggerated by many, but there were also some real *potential* problems that it took a major, not wasted, effort to avert.

It wouldn't have been "The End of Days" by far, but things could have gotten a bit rocky in ways that are hard to predict if lots of little failures in computer transaction processing and record keeping had all gone wrong at once because too many people had said, "Meh! What's the fuss!?" and hadn't been proactive about fixing old software.
