Pastor had sex with teens to cure their homosexuality
A former youth pastor in Council Bluffs, Iowa, says he had sex with teenage boys because it was his pastoral duty “to help (the teen) with homosexual urges by praying while he had sexual contact with him.”

When are we going to face the fact that these are NOT "isolated incidents", but instead are a widespread problem in the christian religious community?

1. What a nice man! The role of the clergy includes some counseling.
So, why not get a little action at the same time? I mean, he was only breaking a few laws, violating trust, and completing invalidating any connection he claimed to have with the Bible and being a "Christian."

14. But that's not how morality works.
I think of that every time these guys make the claim that morality can only come from god; however, what they are peddling only superficially resembles morality at all.

5. Maybe when the clergy starts shooting children in the pews, Christian parents...
...will wake the fuck up - but I doubt it, the fear of eternal damnation overrides all reason.

17. Even if that happened, the church would try to hide it and say it all part of "gods plan."
:puke:

And the sheep will sit quietly and put money in the collection plate.

6. Bachmann's Clinic..Different technique-same results?
I'm surprised we haven't heard anything from Michelle Bachmann about this. Hopefully the Bachmann's family clinic use a different technique of faith based 'cures' for homosexuality.

13. Is anyone surprised by this?
Is there anybody left that doesn't find this kind of debauchery and depravity from men of the cloth at all surprising? How many stories have we heard about this sort of thing happening? How often have the men of god shown themselves capable of exceptionally shocking acts of wickedness that few others are?

15. I've prosecuted child rape cases where the clergy turned a blind eye...
...when they had reason to believe it was going on. I haven't done any cases where the offender was a clergy member, but obviously those cases exist.

18. Pastor shot teens to cure their fear of death.
Pastor threw kegger for teens to cure their alcoholism.

Pastor supplied teens with Corvettes to cure their propensity to drive too fast.

Apart from everything else that is wrong with this situation, the Pastor's thinking seems to suffer from a lack of basic logic.
