5. I guess my poll is about what an Asian religion is. I run into the term often,
but those who use it seem to not include Christianity, or its buddies.

7. Most people use "Asian" to mean "East Asian," thereby excluding everything west of China.
If you go to a "pan-Asian" restaurant, you're not going to find Indian, Afghan, Indonesian, Middle Eastern, etc. cuisine, even all of those areas are clearly Asian.

9. That explains a lot. Like when Bush said the "Evil Doers" may start recruiting Asians. nt

4. It's an aging religion that's fer sure. I'm sure Jesus won't recongnize it when
he gets back.

8. Christianity is most prolific in continents outside the Asian countries.
It began in the Middle East, but spread around the known world - from the Mediterannean primarily toward Europe, then was spread along with exploration and domination of other cultures by the Europeans. Your poll does not make sense, it is simplistic.

10. Whether or not my poll makes sense probably depends on one's definition of "Asian religion."
Edited on Thu Apr-14-11 06:34 PM by ZombieHorde
Our definitions of the other terms are probably close enough for my purpose.

Most people I know consider Buddhism to be an Asian religion, even though Buddhism has spread around the world.

13. You will often run into this term if you read Christian history.
In the first few centuries, when the Romans were slurring Christianity at full volume, they would refer to it as a new fangled Asian idea, Asian abomination, etc.

Check a globe.......Jesus's homebase is more or less east of Rome.

15. Christianity started in Asia, but people call it a western religion.
We don't seem to do this with other things; e.g., foods, art, etc.

16. Sure we do.
Depends on how changed it is.

Spaghetti is Chinese. Is it Asian? Too different. Obtained through an intermediary.

Beer is Asian. Not what we usually think of it as, though.
