Berlusconi is a whore mongering fascist |
|
Anyone offended by my statement and think I am out of bounds? I mean as the leader of a major European country who seems to be a corrupt oligarch, I think I can pass judgement because his behavior and actions do have an effect on us. What happens in Europe is important to us in America. Right? So why, when we say something similarly negative about another European leader, but because he is the head of a Church, we are told it's none of our business? You could argue that his actions have more of an impact on American, given the number of American Catholics. But does he get amnesty from criticism because whatever he does is above reproach due to the nature of his leadership? Why can't we comment and criticize the Pope?

2. Criticism should be pointed and backed up by evidence |
|
that what you say is true. Too many times, attacks on leaders are just left hanging there, with no supporting evidence.
I can't see any reason why you can't criticize the Pope. People have been doing that for centuries.

5. I was being intentionally provocative |

And I agree that we should be civil. But my point still holds. I have seen numerous times on these boards people question why any non-Catholic should criticize the Pope. Why does a religious leader get a pass? No one says we can't criticize leaders from other countries.
