Your thoughts on the first side of 'Houses of the Holy' |
|
did this album's first side affect you in a way that could only be explained as 'spiritual'?
keep in mind I am an atheist
but when I heard this first in 83 at 13...

I only have ever listened to the CD but then any Zeppelin is good, but the album that really effected me most was the Beatles, White Album.

It's interesting, I'm reading "Incognito" which is all about the brain, and it really gets into some interesting explanations vis a vis bliss...

8. I kind of like the concept of a ratio, because it implies traits like strength:weakness for |
|
either/both elements. What do you think?

5. 11th grade, Eight track tape in my 59 Jaguar MkI, driving 100+MPH with BFF Brad. |
|
Saved up for that car, had a small block Chevy and Powerglide tranny, driving to Santa Cruz with the tape, purchased that morning.
Remember that trip like yesterday, parts of it at least, whenever I even think of that album.
THX for the memories!

9. HOTH was my first taste of Zeppelin |
|
My older brother had gone off to college and came back with this. I just looked at the cover and laughed at him. "What kind of crap is this?" He had the last laugh as my jaw hit the floor listening to it. I played this so much my parents would pound on the ceiling and tell me to turn down the damn racket. THATS when you know you're listening to good rock n' roll!

some fool on Amazon posted this:
This CD just not good. Man who sing songs look a like a man and sound like woman, like woman feeling painful too much, guitar player use guitar that sound cheap, just loud and songs making no sense. Also naked children on CD cover! I just try to warn people careful spending good earned money on strange CD. And music fan from Houston, in your review you misspell many words so it look like your english not so great either.

12. I remember when this came out. |
|
My brother and I played it to death. Definitely thought Over the Hills was the best song at the time. But it didn't hit me spiritually. The rock music that effected me that way was first the Moody Blues, specifically A Question of Balance and In Search of the Lost Chord. And then Yes blew my metaphysical mind with Close to the Edge and then Tales of Topographic Oceans which I still find amazing work.

Really a fun track to try to dance to at a bar.
Like the album. Loved the band. Started listening to them not when I was a teenager and they were alive but when I was nearly 30 and Bonham was dead.
Led Zeppelin on Blueberry Hill isn't a bad live album, either. Bootleg, but not bad. Daring, actually mixing "Blueberry Hill" with "Dazed and Confused".

15. I would argue 'The Crunge' is a harder rhythm than 'Fool in the Rain' |

And we know how hard that one is...
