1. When I was growing up, my family did
I even got to hang my stocking again and received a tiny gift. I never knew who left it but I didn't ask. ;)

2. King's Cake Epiphany Tradition in Mexico
Epiphany and the Three Wise Men

The Feast of Epiphany also called "The Adoration of the Magi" or "The Manifestation of God." Celebrated on January 6th, it is known as the day of the Three Kings or Wise Men (The 3 Magi Kings): Caspar (Gaspar), Melchior (Melchor) and Balthazar (Baltazar). According to an old legend based on a Bible, these three kings (The Magi) saw a bright star on the night when Christ was born. They followed it to Bethlehem and found there the Christ child and presented it with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. On the Christian calendar, the twelfth day after Christmas is known as "Epiphany", "Twelfth Night", or "Kings Day."

Rosca de Reyes:

Rosca is the name given to any ring-shaped bread or cookie. This sweet bread or round cake was once used by the friars to evangelize: a small baby doll, representing the Christ child or baby Jesus, is baked right in the bread- "hidden", to symbolize the hiding of the infant from King Herod's troops on the day of Los Santos Inocentes, the Holy Innocents. This treat is traditionally served on the festive Three Magi Kings Day (The Day of Kings), when the children receive their toys. Whoever gets the slice of rosca with the baby Jesus (little doll) in it has to provide the tamales and atole in a dinner party on February 2th, on Candlemas or Dia de la Candelaria.

3. We do in church
It's the season before Lent, and there are special hymns to go with it, such as "Songs of Thankfulness and Praise" and "Brightest and Best of the Stars of the Morning."

Outside of church, it's not a big deal in Northern Europe, where all of my ancestors come from.

4. That's because Lutherans were too busy trying to keep from
freezing to death to notice Epiphany up there in Scandoland.

7. Hymns 76 through 90 in the LBW are under the category of Epiphany...
so we most certainly do observe it.

5. I love those hymns!
Now I'm humming Brightest and Best in my head...

Technically the "Feast of the Epiphany" is a single day, the day after the 12 days of Christmas are over, and observes the arrival of the 3 wise guys. It begins the Epiphany season, which lasts until Lent.

So there ya go. We Episcopals observe it, but don't have as much fun with it as a lot of Catholics do.

6. Yes, today is the FIRST day of Christmas,

and I'm celebrating up through Epiphany. In Italy, La Befana brings the children presents on Epiphany. She is an old witch.

8. When I was a child..
our parish priests would visit each parishoner's home for the feast of the 3 kings and scribble some notation in chalk above the doorway, and bless the home.

Interestingly, I received one Christmas card this year which showed the 3 kings on the cover and wished me a Merry Christmas inside. The card was sent by a practicing Hindu. Just one of the many reasons that I love NYC!

9. We do.
As Catholics and also because that is when my husband and I got engaged. So we do 'celebrate' the day, both in a religious manner and romantic one.
