We should remind evangelicals...
Those who believe that the "end times" are upon us...

That one of the prophecies was that prior to the armageddon, there would be a multitude of false prophets vying for their allegience. These false prophets will infiltrate their clergy and attempt to turn them from the true teachings of Jesus. They need to be on the lookout and be extremely discerning as to who they give their loyalty to, as false prophets will be trying to trick them up so taking any leader "on faith" could be their downfall.

We need to remind them to pay careful attention to what their clergy and leaders ask them to do and what the goal is of those activities. Do the activities lead toward division and discord? Or toward peace and love?

1. No use in warning them -- bible says most christians will be toast.

They will be fooled - even though they 'know' they are NOT fooled. But then again, isn't that the exact definition of being fooled?

of the false prophet....the anti-Christ, so-to-speak.

Here is an entire site that is devoted to proving it.

7. interesting
I think it is important for all spiritual people to do their practices and get ready. Something is going to happen, and soon, I fear.

10. No way!
The anti-Christ will be intelligent... that leaves the Shrub in ashes. He is no more than a forerunner.

5. I thought Armageddon
was going to come "like a thief in the night", at a time when it was least expected.

I'd just like it if evangelicals would read and follow Jesus's teachings instead of spouting Old Testament and Epistles quotes out of context.

15. thanks for the information
I tried reading Revelations once and gave up. Always felt more comfortable reading the words of Jesus than anything else in the NT except for I Corinthians 13.

8. May I suggest that we stop calling them "evangelicals" and...
...return to calling them "fundamentalists" or "fundies?" That puts what those people believe into its proper context. "Evangelicals" sounds too innocuous; to me, anyway.

9. Evangelicals is an incorrect term as well.
Any protestant who derives belief from the four Gospels is an evangelical.

I am a liberal United Methodist, but I am an evangelical.

Please call them fundies, fundie wing-nuts, radical Christians, Christian extremists, or something along those lines.

18. what's in a name?.......
"I was walking across a bridge one day, and i saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. so I ran over and said "stop! don't do it!" "Why shouldn't I?" he said.

I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!" He said, "Like what?"I said, "Well...are you religious or atheist?" He said, "Religious."

I said, "Me too! Are you christian or buddhist?" He said, "Christian."

I said, "Me too! Are you catholic or protestant?" He said, "Protestant."

I said, "Me too! Are you episcopalian or baptist?" He said, "Baptist!"

I said, "Wow! Me too! Are you baptist church of god or baptist church of the lord?" He said, "Baptist church of god!"

I said, "Me too! Are you original baptist church of god, or are you reformed baptist church of god?" He said, "Reformed baptist church of god!"

I said, "Me too! Are you reformed baptist church of god, reformation of 1879, or reformed baptist church of god, reformation of 1915?" He said, "Reformed baptist church of god, reformation of 1915!"

I said, "Die, heretic scum", and pushed him off."

16. I don't think that they are all dominionists...
Dominionism, as I understand it, more equates to theocracy - or a state run by clerics of a religion. Dominionists want to run the country using Old Testament laws as the basis of our judicial system (oh heaven help us!)

I'm referring to the End-Timers, those who think that Armageddon and the Rapture are coming, fans of the "Left Behind" series of books and other End-Time stories. End-Time prophecies include radical and devestating natural disasters, massive war, coming of the snti-christ, false prophets and massive confusion and instability in the world preceeding the 2nd coming of Jesus and the rapture.

I guess "end-timers" might be the right word to use to refer to them.

17. Here is an example of how fundies view the antichrist....
I was surfing around looking for some info on a topic I just heard on hate radio, when I came upon this bit of rubbish......

http://www.truechristian.com/messageboard.html

As an atheist, the whole concept of an antichrist is fantasy. However, if the whole religious doctrine were true, the zealots certainly would not be able to recognize deceit in their midst.

And if you have the stomach, the good reverend has a few thoughts on gay marriage.

http://www.truechristian.com/gaymarriage.html

Now, I realized that this is not mainstream christianity. But look at the pictures of the family and his church. They look pretty normal to me. Reminds me of world war two, holocaust survivors recalling how their neighbors and friends turned against them committing unspeakable atrocities. Kind of reflects on my tag line.

Remind the evangelicals if you like, but I fear your protestations will fall upon deaf ears.

21. This ol' (and I mean OLD) mom says ...
'Nice site you found there, Deary!" Really, it was appalling!!

Man, that guy has a lot of hatred inside (the 'true Christian'). I would hate to be living my life that way.

Thanks for the link ... at least I know that there are people that scary out there.

RRE = Religious Right Extremists - that's what they are.
