So if all nuns are married to Jesus, doesn't that make them polygamists? |

When I was little (about 7 years old) my mother enrolled me in Catholic school (only lasted 2 years). I was brought up Methodist so catholicism to me was completely foreign. Anyway, one day after class, I asked my teacher (who was not a nun but was a very devout catholic employee of the school), "Why don't nuns get married?" She explained that "The sisters are married to Jesus." I replied, "Whew! Boy, Jesus sure must have a LOT of wives!!"
Laughed so hard, she had to run to the bathroom for fear of peeing on herself. Told that story to all the sisters in the school.

the ones the public hears about are mostly Priests. Unfortunately, this happens in Protestant circles also. BUT...I still contend that Priests seem to pick boys!!!

priests were altar boys. It's only recently that some parishes have allowed girls to serve.

married to Jesus. At least I hope not!
The nun thing...it is kind of creepy, isn't it? I went to a convent boarding school and all the nuns wore wedding rings.
On the other hand, without doubt, the finest humans I know are nuns. Then again, I know a nun who is without a doubt the spawn of Satan.

Priests are not symbolically married to anyone. Nuns become a Bride of Christ in a sort of living metaphor; they represent the Church, who is the Bride of Christ. Current Catholics - have I remembered this all correctly?
