A generous Atheist Vs a Selfish Theist
A generous Atheist Vs a Selfish Theist

Swami told that Gita says that the bad theist is greater than a generous atheist (Apichet Sa Duracharah…..). The reason for this is that negation of God is - 100. All the other good qualities are only + 99. Therefore a good atheist results as -1. The gratefulness to God is +100. All the other bad qualities are only -99. Therefore a bad theist results as + 1. Ofcourse a good theist is +199. A bad atheist is – 199. You should aim at + 199 and not just at +1.

At Thy Lotus Feet His Holiness Sri Dattaswami

1. Pah! Bring it! I call bull!
Now we get to the interesting bit - back up your assertions and insults.

Come on - what is the reason that

1) Not believing in God is a 'negation of God'

and

2) How not believing in God is worse than all other things.

This should get interesting!

6. As far as judging character of a person, atheism or theism is irrelevant.
What one believes has nothing to do with his or her morality; it's just a matter of what they happen to believe is reality. I say this as a Christian.

That person's reasoning was ridiculous.

7. Well, that's rather arbitrary
I can assign numerical values just as easily as old Lotus Feet. Swami catburgler says that a bad atheist is greater than a generous theist. The reason for this is negation of God is +1000. All other good qualities are +.003. The gratefulness to God is, of course, -10,000. Therefore a bad atheist results as +999.997. A good atheist is +1000.003. A good theist is -999.997. A bad theist is... Pat Robertson :D .

See? Who's right? Swami Lotus Feet or Swami catburgler?

"See? Who's right? Swami Lotus Feet or Swami catburgler?"

Okay catburgler... now I was always good at arithmetic, but the higher math always puzzled me. But let me give a try, mmmmm.... okay lets see... now, Swami Lotus Feet had:

-100
+99
-1
+100
-99
+1
+199
– 199
+199
+1
_____

TOTAL = 200

And The Swami catbuglar has:

+1000
+003.
-1000
+999.997
+1000.003
-999.997
________
TOTAL = 99.979 <<<<<scratches head - "is that right?">>>>

Well, I guess I have to say I'm going with The Swami Catbuglar's theology cause that one's got the biggest number... or something like that. Anyway, I guess OUR BIG NUMBER GOD can beat up your little tiny number lotus feet god any day of the week and twice on sunday.

Oh yeah catburglar you're right, Pat Robertson is a TERRIBLE theist. They just don't make those matchbook correspondance theology degrees like they used to.

:bounce:

I'd stack one good atheist, hell, I'd stack TEN good atheists against Pat Robertson, and he'd still come up short no matter how the numbers added up.

10. Swami Lotus Feet
or H. H. Shri Datta Swami, is a complete incarnation of the Lord (Pari Purna Avatara). He has come to this world to preach Divine Knowledge to mankind. It says this and more in Swami's bio. I'm sticking with Swami Catburgler.

14. My Swami (The BobBurglar) has armor of +3 arbitrariness!
And Magic Spell Of Reduce Opponent Arbitrariness By 4!

I win!

It means that according to Swami The BobBurglar, all actions that do not entail the words "those are remarkably large nuns" are EVIL to the power of e^60000000 !

And only atheists with the screenname Random_Australian have the magic power of EVIL becomes GOOD!

So I am arbitrarily good and everyone else is arbitrarily evil.

All actions involving the words "those are remarkably large nuns" are all + 1 GOOD.

Where is the logic in setting some percent goodness as passing?

Or where is the logic in, as some believe, offering heaven to anybody who comes to accept Christ in this lifetime, but excluding those who, for whatever reason, happen to miss out in this lifetime? Or in, as some believe, excluding people of other religions, who happen to guess wrong?

25. Hit and run
It appears that Mr. dattaswamI considers himself above discussion, he/she figuring that it's more than enough to deliver these pre-digested bits of Great Enlightenment to us, for which I suppose we're all supposed to be oh-so grateful, unless, of course, we otherwise show how unworthy or "spiritually underdeveloped" we are when we don't respond with awe and gratitude to all of these Wisdom McNuggets we're being treated to.

26. Some people in this thread are questioning whether there really IS a
dattaswam poster on DU.

There really is.

I saw dattaswam at Burger King last Wednesday around lunchtime.

The order? Two chicken sandwiches, large fries, Diet Coke.

'Seemed to be with five or six people, most of them wearing summertime street clothes. Nothing fancy.

One of them bore a strong resemblance to Pete Rose, of all people.

Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 03:37 AM by Old Crusoe
wanna go home?

There's a 4-lane highway down by the bridge where I went skinny-dipping as a child
There's a drive-in show where the meadow used to grow and the strawberries used to grow wild
There's a dragstrip down by the riverside where my grandma's cow used to graze
Now the grass don't grow and the river don't flow as they did in my childhood days

Don't it make you wanna go home, now, tell me don't it make you wanna go home?
All god's children get weary when they roam
Tell me don't it make you wanna go home?
