Tomorrow, for Episcopals, the first woman Presiding Bishop's investiture
At National Cathedral, and we have tickets!

for those who don't, a live webcast will be available on www.episcopalchurch.org

Presiding Bishop Jefferts Schori

Bishop Jefferts Schori, an airplane pilot and former oceanographer, is the first woman in Anglicanism's nearly 520-year history to lead a church province as its chief bishop. She was elected June 18 by her colleagues in the House of Bishops from among seven nominees. The House of Deputies confirmed her election the same day.

November 4 Investiture and November 5 Installation

In rites on November 4–5 at Washington National Cathedral, the Episcopal Church will welcome the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori as its 26th Presiding Bishop. The investiture will occur in the context of a Eucharistic celebration at 11 am on Saturday, November 4. The cathedral's 11 am All Saints' Sunday liturgy on November 5 will include the formal seating of Bishop Jefferts Schori in the seat symbolic of her office. Presiding Bishop Jefferts Schori will preside and preach at this service and will be webcast by the cathedral.

6. Actually, I believe the praise belongs to enlightenment and secularism.
Without those forces, no church can evolve.

4. Ya' know, as an average pagen type unbeliever I kinda' like
them 'piscolopians. Broad minded bunch so to speak. 'Fore ya' know it they'll have gay priests . . . ah, already done that.

How about that, a God that doesn't require a dick to preach the message and doesn't hate people 'cause of who they love.

Gotta 'spect that.

7. There is really no point in fighting ethical progress.
I'm glad we live in environments where some churches that can share these progresses with the rest of the secular world. Make sure you post and tell us how it goes, Kwassa.

8. Lucky you!
Bishop Jefforts-Schori's husband used to teach in the same department as my gentleman friend of the 1984-86 era, so I've met her, and she is one great lady.

This is a fabulous day for the Episcopal Church, and the parishes that don't like it can go off and sulk by themselves.
