Church's ad in Wadsworth spooks viewers (Ohio)
Pastor says commercial bold, harmless
By Rick Armon
Beacon Journal staff writer

WADSWORTH - The television commercial running on Wadsworth Cable .. features a loud, continuous beep and the phrase ``Religious No More'' on a blue background fading in and out with a color bar for 30 seconds ... The accompanying Web site is ... a counter ticking down the days, hours, minutes and seconds to 6 p.m. Nov. 19 ...

In the age of terrorism, school shootings and Internet threats, the commercial and Web site have prompted complaints to the cable company and police, and in some cases outright fear about what's coming. Don't worry, though, ... Religious No More is nothing more than an advertisement for the Southside Christian Fellowship ...

``We certainly didn't mean to scare people,'' pastor Gary Fox said. ``We're a harmless lovable fuzzy group of people. We're just trying to get attention with a bold message. We're a bold type of church. We wanted to do something slightly outrageous and unconventional.'' ...

``It didn't take but a weekend and we were bombarded by complaints,'' said John Madding, manager for WCTV. The majority of the complaints revolved around people believing the commercial was the work of an atheist group, he said ...

that's exactly what they meant to do. :eyes:

edit:

``We are interested in building a church full of people who worship God in spirit and truth, yet are not into religion or silly traditions of men,'' he added.

8. Nothing in the article about "the Rapture": the fear seems to be associated
with people who think terrorists will advertise on TV or something: to quote, I don't want anything bad to happen in my town, so please look into this and stop it if you can.

And the complaints were coming from people who thought religion is under attack ...

10. What do atheist terrorists shout just before they blow themselves up?
"Nothing has perfect greatness. God has perfect greatness. God does not exist. Again, God is great!"

2. What's the point of predicting the Rapture for 2 weeks from now

That doesn't give you near enough time to fleece the sheeple, er, I mean, uh, save their souls.

7. What IS it with those fundies and sex.
Do you really want to be surrounded by a bunch of naked humans all jammed up at St. Peter's Gate? It's just weird, especially after centuries of sexual suppression.

4. Wonder why these people do not just work on their own morals?
Why are they always so interested in mine or yours? I could care less what they do or you do as long as you leave me alone. I really must have been out playing in the woods the day Sunday school went into get out and make every one think like you and do as you want. Either that or they did not teach that in my Church. I guess they learned the hard way. They once hung Quakers. Witches were in for it also.
