8. They salvaged something from the wreckage, thank God.

Luckily, the Mariners did the Tigers a HUGE favor Wednesday night by toughing it out against the White Sox in 14 innings - one of the best games I've ever seen, even more so because there was a good outcome.

In the first inning they clocked a pitch at 99mph, and Eckersley on the Sox broadcast said there was no way he could do that all game long. Verlander was still throwing a 99mph fastball in the 8th. One of the better pitching performances I've seen in awhile.
