Nike Denies Vick Deal
Source: Washington Post

I posted this yesterday
Agent: Michael Vick reaches endorsement deal with Nike
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=4084663&mesg_id=4084663

From the article

Nike indicated Thursday that it has no contractual arrangement with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick.

The shoe and apparel company issued a written statement through a spokesman that said: "Nike does not have a contractual relationship with Michael Vick. We have agreed to supply product to Michael Vick as we do a number of athletes who are not under contract with Nike."

The statement was released by Nike a day after media reports quoted Vick representatives as saying that Vick had struck an endorsement deal with the company. Those representatives had refused to reveal financial terms.

Nike reportedly had terminated its endorsement contract with Vick in August 2007.

4. There's a pretty large difference
between giving him a few dollars worth of shoes (admittedly, that Nike sells for megabucks, but that's another sorry story) and paying this asshat a buttload of money to sell the shoes.

6. Agreed
Vick is getting no money for this. So yeah, he didn't have to pay for shoes. Unless he's getting crates of them and then selling them on the side, this isn't that big of a deal.

5. He served his time and I'm a huge football fan...
But to be rewarded for being a dog killer shows it all about the Benjamin's.

7. That's a non-denial. They have an agreement to supply stuff to him as long as he wears it TV
Nike's PR department isn't staffed with attorneys, because that is a contract, and the consideration provided by Vick is promotional activity (i.e. wearing Nike products on TV.) :hi:
