i think he's said that he gave it consideration, but felt uncomfortable -- not for him. i can't remember which election he said he was asked to consider a candidacy for senate, but he was asked.

i have to admit, he's one who has A LOT of personal loyalty to former players and personal contacts. i was disappointed when he supported Richard Vinroot's candidacy against Dem Gov Mike Easley. Vinroot played for Smith in the 60s. he ain't perfect, but does know what's RIGHT, and for that he's bettered this State.

On Edit: I lived in the same part of the state myself for 11 years, and even know what high school 'Ol Roy graduated from. It's possible he's a dem, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

because it doesn't matter what state or whether or not a team comes from a state that is "blue" or "red". Also that a team is made up of many individuals who come from different parts of the country. You also think it is dumb because each individual on a sports team may hold different beliefs.
And finally, that it is just sports and not anything that really matters in the political sense.
