The Twins have won the AL Central five times since 2002
Not once in all that time have they made it to the World Series, and they only got out of the ALDS once (where they were thumped by the Angels).

The White Sox won the World Series, and the Tigers got to the World Series as a wild card during that same period.

Some representatives they are, eh?

1. Hmmm. I guess that means the Tiggers really sucked those five years
that the Twins represented the AL Central. Does not say much for the teams in the AL Central does it!

:D

4. Does it matter Lisa?
The Tigers had their chances this year, to spare us the Twins, and choked it all away.

Personally I would have preferred Detroit play NY, because I believe they would have had a better chance, albeit a small one.

Unfortunately, the 2009 Tigers didn't have what it takes...sort of like last year's Red Wings, huh?

5. The Twins and Tigers were so evenly matched, really
I mean, think about it, in the last week, they played five times. They split the first four, then in the last game, played so evenly it could almost have been called a tie.

Everyone says the Tigers choked, but in reality, except for one very brief period, they were only clinging to a 2 or 3 game lead most of the time (I didn't think that 7 game lead was enough). Then the Twins played lights out for a few weeks, and yet the Tigers still gave them a fight at the Twinkie Dome.

I think the Tigers would have had a better chance with the Yankees, too. The Twins can't seem to do anything in the post-season. It's just rotten having to watch them.

6. Which is all the more impressive since the Twins have HALF the Tigers' payroll.
Yeah, they'll lose to the Yankees. Who have nearly FOUR times the payroll.

I fail to understand your tenacious bitterness against the Twins when they're one team in MLB that busts their asses off despite being near the bottom of the league in payroll. Too bad your Tigers couldn't buy the division.

7. The Twins' payroll will go up considerably once they extend Mauer's contract.

10. I got kind of pissed at them during the 4-game series
it's not worth going into the details at this point, other than Mauer tipping signs while he was on base.

They get a lot of great players, but they are practically a farm club for the teams with bigger payrolls. There are ex-Twins all over the place. If they could even have hung on to a couple of them (Torii Hunter in particular) they would probably go farther in the playoffs.

That said, I think one thing that killed the Tigers was that Aubrey Huff and that jackass Washburn were both huge busts. Washburn won ONE freaking game for us. If he'd won two, we'd be playing now. I think he must have lied about being injured or something prior to our getting him, but it got to be that you could count on his starts being a loss. What a waste.
