11. I have a feeling the Jets were 3-0 solely due to the "thrill of new management" factor...
...and the past 3 games were more like they'll play the rest of the season.

10. I don't expect Mike Singletary
to allow that type of sloppy play two games in a row.

FYI: There have been changes on the O line and Michael Crabtree will play. But don't change your pick on account of what I say -- it is a head scratcher.

12. I'm aware of Crabtree likely starting
Didn't know about the O-line though. The offense wasn't what I was mainly concerned about but it was the defense. Really if San Francisco plays their normal D they will win. Houston has weapons on offense and a good O-line which is key. Though I lean to San Francisco based on defense. San Francisco shouldn't have many problems against the Texans D especially with Gore back and I really can't decide which is why I gave the edge to the Texans based on the fact that they are home.

I never pick against the Cardinals. ;) I forget San Francisco came off the bye so they should be readily prepared. It will certainly be a tough game for both teams. No clear winner. :hi:

Edited on Sun Oct-25-09 01:59 PM by JonLP24
Interesting given Hill's record as a starter for the 49ers but he isn't real effective. Nice to see Alex Smith come in there and do something for them.

19. Standings
Edited on Sat Oct-24-09 12:02 AM by JonLP24
By winning percentage. Minimum of 3 weeks otherwise BOSSHOG is in first place with his 10-6 record after his only week(1) of play. Even though Bill McBlueState has the highest I give first place to Condem for his impressive record for every week of play.

Rank (Record) PCT Weeks Played
1. Condem (52-38) 58% 1,2,3,4,5,6
2. Bill McBlueState (26-18) 59% 3,4,5
3. brendan120678 (34-26) 57% 2,3,4,6
4. Auggie (49-41) 54% 1,2,3,4,5,6
5. JonLP24 (49-40) 55% 1,2,3,4,5,6****
6. Forkboy (45-44) 51% 1,2,3,4,5,6*****
7. Angleae (36-38) 49% 2,3,4,5,6
8. joeybee12 (20-26) 43% 2,3,4
9. madinmaryland (18-26) 41% 2,5,6
10. BOSSHOG (10-6) 63% Week 1

****JonLP24 did not make a pick on Seattle/St Louis week 1 so since Auggie did he gets the edge.
*****Forkboy did not make a pick on Tennessee/Pittsburgh week 1. Also I made sure to count the Denver/Cleveland pick as you were correct in that one. :hi:

Edited on Sat Oct-24-09 09:09 AM by JonLP24
I recently started bookmarking all of these threads and I was planning to do it when the season was over but I decided just to do it to see where we were at. Good thing though as I was adding up well over 100 games and so forth. It would've been a mess to do this at the end of the season with nothing to reference and counting all the weeks and picks.

At first I was going to rank them simply by wins but when I got to brendan and Angleae I realized it wasn't going to work. So I thought up the winning percentage idea and now it seems more logical to do triple digits like in batting average but I rounded the third number if it was 5 or higher to the 2nd number. For example .555 would got .56 under my system.

I double checked everyone and the ones with fewer then 6 weeks I triple checked to make sure I got the weeks right and to make sure I didn't miss any of their picks. mad and joey I quadruple checked because joey had 2 higher picks then mad with the same amount of weeks and I checked to figure out why which is week 3 had more choices then week 5.

30. I nearly picked Kansas City because of Arrowhead
I have watched A LOT of Broncos games in my life and I have RARELY seen them beat Kansas City at home. One of those times was in 1996-1997 playoffs. That was a great game there that went down to the last play.

33. I was at that game....
After, in the frozen Arrowhead parking lot was not a happy scene.
But, I had 30 Broncos fans partying with us and we got a lot of shit but no one messed with us.
We even had Chief fan drinking Tequila shots with us.

I wanted to fly to Pittsburgh the following week, but we couldn't find tickets.

What a year for Broncos nation.

34. WEEK SEVEN RESULTS
First: issues and such

Ties: We had one this week: S.F.@ Houston. I'm not planning on counting them in standings. Anyone thinks otherwise let me know.

Ties will be indicated by "P" (Push).

Thanksgiving, Thursday night and Saturday football: To include or not? It's been my intent to post picks on Friday mid-day in order to get the latest line and account for injury reports/other game info while giving everyone a weekday to respond (some of us have actual lives to live on the weekend; others prefer to post Saturday and Sunday morning). This will have to change if Thursdays and Saturday games are are included. Not all of us will be able to see the Thursday game and the match-ups will be less than stellar. I'm leaning towards omitting Thursday and Saturday games but will be happy with what you folks want.

If you want to pick Thursday and Saturday games, what would be the ideal day to start the thread? Wednesday?

-------------------------------------------------------------

On to week seven. AND THE WINNERS ARE...

35. WTG Condem, Forkboy!
I don't have a problem with not including Pushes in the standings. I don't see it as having any effect as everyone is awarded pushes.

If you ask me Thursday's games that is tricky, I can get them in Wednesday but I don't know about others. Thursday's is good for Saturday picks if there is no Thursday game.

Do you want to rank the total standings? I can have them done for the next time you post a picks thread same style. I'm wondering how to do a cut off for percentages. I'm thinking if you play half the weeks you qualify for a percentage and you can be ranked on that. For odd number weeks like Week 7 I'll go with the smaller number so for 7 weeks of play -- to qualify for a percentage you just need 3 weeks of picks. 8 total weeks, 4 weeks played. 9 total weeks, 4 weeks played, and so forth.
