Parcells going to the Browns?? |
|
Browns owner Randy Lerner is looking for the next Bill Parcells to rebuild his football organization and make all the decisions. It's possible -- not likely, but possible -- that he can find that person currently running the Miami Dolphins. His name is Bill Parcells. What sounds unthinkable is actually gaining a little credence. There is chatter initiated in NFL personnel ranks that Parcells would be agreeable to leaving the Dolphins midway through his four-year contract to take on his next rebuilding project in Cleveland. "The one thing about Bill is he's unpredictable," said a league source, who would not discount the possibility. Parcells has an escape clause in his contract to leave the Dolphins at any point and still receive the remaining money owed him. Further, the new team would not be required to compensate the Dolphins with money or draft picks.

Just a rumor, but...

1. I'd rather see Holmgren in Cleveland |
|
But then, if Parcells goes to Cleveland maybe the 49ers could grab Holmgren. That would be ideal.

2. They need someone...pretty exciting game today between the worst 2 teams, and with a decent |
|
coach they would have won except for the bone-headed move at the end.

4. You can view the (second) last play here |
|
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-cant-miss-plays/09000d5d814654cc/WK-11-Can-t-Miss-Play-Fantastic-finishRefs handed this game to Detroit. Completely bogus pass interference call on a Hail Mary and to top it off a free time out for the Lions when they had none left.

Number 83 was drilling the receiver in the back of the end zone. Clear pass interference.

Some say it's legal to push a receiver out of bounds when the QB scrambles out of the pocket, but not when the ball is in the air (which it was), but it doesn't matter if the ball was uncatchable. It's true the receiver (#83) had no chance to catch that ball but nevertheless makes it a boneheaded move.

9. You can push a receiver out of bounds if he has the ball in his hands |

You can't push him at all if the ball is in the air and while it's true it doesn't matter if the ball is uncatchable, he couldn't be further then 5 yards away from it with a defender pushing him away thus preventing him an opportunity.

5. Parcells and/or Holmgren and/or Cowher? |
|
Parcells as VP of Football Operations, Holmgren as GM and the Chin as head coach are all fantasies swirling about the shores of Lake Erie. Also some talk about Gruden as HC. Slow Lerner, the Browns owner after inheriting the Browns and $2B from his old man is finally facing up to the fact that he knows Jack about American football. His favorite team, Aston Villa of the British Premier League, is doing pretty good.
Glad he has money because he'll still be paying Romeo Crennel, Phil Savage, Eric Mangini and probably George Kokinis millions next year and for years to come.
