As a fan of a team that rarely will compete for a national championship, but will try to compete for a Rose Bowl Berth, I selfishly would rather keep the bowl system in place. Having said that. If i were not tied to a school, Id probably be all for a playoff.

I think it was ESPN that started pushing this in the first place. They have really managed to strip a lot of tradition out of sports. I don't think it's entirely intentional, and I like some of their new traditions - I am probably "College Game Day"'s biggest fan, outside of the obligatory sob story each week.

It's sort of like all of the additional baseball play-offs. I remember when every regular season game counted much more. Besides, football is best played outdoors. How in the hell do you play football with eighteen inches of snow on the ground and winds gusting to fifty miles per hour. Might be nice to watch on tv with a nice toddy, but I live in this ridiculous weather and even I wouldn't want to go to a game under those conditions.
